About the Role
As a Product Designer, you are passionate creative, responsible for developing products and packaging for CURiO Brands that are innovative, beautiful, safe, and sellable to end consumers. You have a strong artist hand and are confident in illustration, painting, and other traditional mediums. You'll leverage your unique talents, such as illustration and surface design, to create and source custom vessels (
glass, metal, and ceramic
) and secondary packaging (
paper boxes, tubes, bags, labels, hangtags
), through the opportunity to work on CURiO's exciting brands Capri Blue, Thymes, and Otherland.

What You'll Do
Design & Concept:
Collaborate with Product Design Manager and team, along with Brand to research and concept new product ideas.
Develop mood boards for new product collections and product formats.
Push creative boundaries to drive great design and strong innovation.
Proactively research market trends and innovation opportunities.
Work with vendors to source and develop new techniques and manufacturing capabilities.
Prepare creative presentations and present concepts to internal brand team and external customers.
Demonstrate systematic approach in designs for varying structures, materials, sizes and product types.
Brand steward, keen eye for detail, refine designs across selected product assortment.
Create 3D renderings, recommend dimensions, and determine materials for product and packaging.
Communicate with domestic and international vendors to achieve design intent, construction, safety, and usability goals. Contribute problem-solving ideas throughout the development process.
Participate in the approval of prototype samples for style details, construction, safety, and usability. Organize and label incoming samples and approved counters.
Attend weekly Design & Innovation status meetings and other meetings as needed.
Work closely with Brand, Project Management, Engineering, R&D, Purchasing, Quality, Production, Finance, and Sales to ensure development is on track to meet project goals, design intent and timeline.
Develop constructive and collaborative working relationships with vendors, colleagues, and others, maintaining them over time to produce successful results for the design team.
Request price quotes and work with vendors to ensure target costs are achieved.
Work closely with Project Management team and Cost Analyst on costing exercises. Contribute to product cost discussions, providing insights and ideas on how to cost engineer new developments to meet cost objectives.
Work with the production artist for execution of final printable files.
Work closely with external vendors, helping to build strong partnerships.
Work closely with print vendors to develop structures, reviews proofs for color/ detail accuracy and attend press checks as needed. Color advocate for the brand standards.
Cut and mock-up packaging/ product samples to support marketing team with photoshoot and sample needs.
Provide design specifics and photos of development samples for specification documents.

Approximate Compensation Range for this Role: $61,000 to $83,000.
Our compensation ranges are determined by role, level, and location. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Creative Ideation + Brand Building

Design Execution

Develop storyboards, shot lists, and art direction for photo + video content
Translate strategy and marketing briefs into compelling visual concepts

Support and co-lead photo and video shoots, including styling, shot composition, lighting direction, and asset oversight
Use strong photography and photo-editing skills to produce content that aligns with our brand world
Partner with social media and marketing teams to ideate and create content that performs (platform-specific best practices, trend-aware, thumb-stopping)
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with cross-functional partners across marketing, menu innovation, franchise development, operations, and local store marketing
Support franchisees with creative requests while protecting brand integrity
Ensure assets are organized, accessible, and updated using modern workflows and systems
Innovation + Trends
Stay on top of emerging design, food, fashion, culture, wellness, and social trends

Actively participate in design reviews and make sound design decisions needed to provide functional and cost-effective tools and programs for product fabrication.
Interact with suppliers on tooling designs and make design decisions that provide functional and cost-effective fixtures for product fabrication; maintain relationships with key suppliers and other external groups.
Update records, documents, procedures, and system requirements regarding product introduction, and maintenance, such as drawings, designs, specifications, parts, and other product requirements.
Assist in the development of CAD libraries, standard templates, and drafting standards.
Contribute to the development of innovative improvements and support a culture of continuous improvement within the department.
Ensure compliance with department policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations; seek management direction as required.
Provide training and mentoring to other drafters or designers in learning how to use various CAD/CAM software within area of expertise as well as other department processes and procedures.
Identify areas of improvement, and provide recommendations, and assist in implementing solutions using appropriate tools (e.g. databases, spread sheets, programming, automation, etc.).
Implement in a successful and timely manner all program and service offerings approved by the collaborative work of Management, Engineering, Quality, and Product Marketing.
Participate in audits of systems, processes, and methods within the designer role.

Work Experience:
Five (5) or more years of progressive professional design/drafting experience in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum of two (2 years) of experience using SolidWorks to model parts, create assemblies, and drawing, or CSWP certification.
Ability to effectively translate CAD/CAM data between different software platforms (i.e. Altium, SolidWorks, DXF, IGES, and STP, Gerber) required.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment with either AS9100 or ISO9001 based quality systems preferred.
Experience working with engineers or other technical staff preferred.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience with PCB circuit layout.
Familiarity with ECAD and PLM preferred.
Education:
Minimum of an Associate degree in technically-oriented discipline (Engineering Technology, Drafting, Math, CAD, etc.), or equivalent certifications/work experience.
Work Environment:
General office, engineering, and manufacturing production floor environments.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
The hiring compensation range for this position is an hourly rate of $15.00-$16.00/hour.
