As a Structural Technician III, you will be using your skills and expertise to assemble and/or create major assembly structures and minor part-fitting operations such as filing, sawing, burring, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling and reaming. You will be responsible for aligning parts on jigs and aerospace vehicles using templates and fixtures, and measuring parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions. You also may be responsible for modifying incomplete and complete assemblies and incorporating the changes into the structure, and monitoring and verifying quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
Physical/Mental/Emotional Requirements: Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps. Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity. Frequently requires vision abilities to include close, distance, depth perception, and telling the difference between colors. Frequently requires hearing abilities to include discerning different tones and volumes. Frequently lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs.
Working Conditions: Frequently exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.) Occasionally exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials. Frequently exposed to loud noises.

Ability to obtain and maintain secret clearance
High school diploma or GED equivalent and typically 5 or more years of relevant experience (A higher-level degree may substitute for experience)

Our Aeronautics Systems sector is currently seeking an **Aircraft Structures Mechanic Level 3** to join our operations team, located in **Dayton, OH,** working on assembly structures, laminates and composite bonding processes
Position Requirements:
This position requires **at least four years of experience** working on aircraft, aerospace structures or composites with a complete understanding of the detailed aspects of the job with practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered. The candidate will receive limited supervision with detailed instructions for routine work, new activities or special assignments. May assist in orienting, training, assigning and checking the work of lower-level employees.
What you'll get to do:
+ Fabricate composite components and/or tools, which may include, tool prep, ply kit generation, lamination, vacuum bagging, de-molding, composite trimming, finishing, core fabrication, and composite bonding processes
+ Performing part-fitting operations such as filing, burring, crimping, trimming, gromet installation, drilling, countersinking and reaming.
+ Aligning parts on jigs using templates and fixtures
+ Measuring parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions.
+ Modifying incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate engineering changes to structure.
+ Monitoring and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
+ Troubleshoot and solve unique problems through collaboration with engineers and other technicians.
+ Operate autoclave and curing ovens to complete bonding cycles
+ Use of appropriate PPE when working on the shop floor.
+ Recommend and implement continuous improvement activities in production methods, equipment performance and team effectiveness.
Basic Qualifications:
+ High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) with at least 4-years of relatable aircraft experience in manufacturing/production (or similar)
+ Perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: lifting over 25 pounds, working with chemicals, overhead work, climbing up and down ladders, prolonged kneeling, bending, or stooping, carrying tools, testing for and wearing a respirator.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Security Clearance and special program access required
+ Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, test procedures, etc.
+ Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Active DoD Secret Clearance with a background investigation completed within the last six years with the ability to obtain program access.
+ A&P License
+ Experience with composite manufacturing, aircraft fabrication, assemblies, components, and systems in an aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing and/or maintenance environment
+ Experience with high temperature composite materials including Polyimide.
+ Experience with structural subassemblies, including bonding, co-bonding, core bonding and bagging
+ Demonstrated ability using standard measuring equipment and power hand tools
+ Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical specifications and operating procedures
Primary Level Salary Range: $25.91 - $43.22
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. Assemble and install to structural components and sub-assemblies to join larger assemblies. Components may be metal or composites or a combination.
Use locating points found by utilizing station lines and index points and without jigs, fixtures or tooling, as required.
Appropriate protective clothing/equipment determined by the task you are performing.
Operate mechanical lifts of various types (e.g., scissors lifts and snorkel lifts), to locate parts/assemblies into position or to perform assembly work.
Use drills and high impact vibratory tools (bucking, riveting), in addition to screwdrivers, huck pullers, lock bolt puller, power screwdriver, C-squeeze, ratchet wrench, nut runner, torque wrenches, crimpers and cable tools.
Chemical solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints and special finishes.
Once your work is completed per testing requirement, you'll inspect your work for quality and check for FOD (Foreign Object Debris).

PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Aircraft Structural Mechanic III is responsible for assessing aircraft damage and draft repair procedures to aircraft structural and composite components. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Inspect / assess damage to aircraft structural components and formulate proper repair/replacement procedures utilizing applicable technical data.
Remove and install close tolerance, high-strength fasteners in major aircraft structural components.
Designs structural repair, modification, and corrosion protection treatments with respect to original strength, weight, and contour to maintain structural integrity.
Perform post repair flight control weight and balance functions as well as control surface rigging per designated technical orders.
Inspect components/repairs for structural serviceability according to specifications and technical publications.
Manufactures / use jigs, fixtures, forms, and molds to fabricate repair or replacement parts.
Use advanced metalworking practices, equipment, and tools to form, cut, bend, and fasten replacement or repair parts to damaged structures and components.
Able to train shop drawing and depot level metal layout techniques; shop mathematics; corrosion identification, removal, repair, and prevention; cleaning of metals; application of protective coatings, and markings.
Recommends methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures.
Uses automated maintenance systems. Inputs, validates, and analyzes data processed to automated systems.
Inspects, clears, and closes out completed maintenance discrepancies in automated maintenance systems.
Document maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements.
Stores, handles, and disposes of hazardous waste and materials according to environmental standards and company processes.
Operates and maintains related aircraft Support Equipment (SE).
Use automated maintenance systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, document maintenance actions, and time change database.
Perform regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks.
Maintain strict tool control procedures. Report missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the supervisor. Inventory and inspect tools on a regular basis and replace worn or broken tools.
Comply with safety rules and regulations while performing day to day maintenance. Promptly report all accidents, injuries, safety violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to supervisor.
Maintain equipment records. Enter in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verify the work was performed satisfactorily.
The Aircraft Structural Mechanic will be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Highly skilled in depot level processes and procedures for replacement of major structural components.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, technical documentation, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Strong decision analysis and problem-solving skills. Ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. Must be able to communicate issues to management.
Highly knowledgeable of fixed wing aircraft construction features, identification and characteristics of aerospace materials to include proper use, mixing, and storage of acids, solvents, alcohol, caustics, primers, and paints, and proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste and materials.
Extensive knowledge in fabrication and depot repair / replacement of metal components, tubing, cable, plastic, fiberglass, bonded honeycomb, and composite structural components.
Intermediate computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs. Working knowledge of advanced software applications is preferred.
Must be able to utilize respirator, forced air, or other breathing equipment during the performance of assigned duties.
Ability to enter data accurately into databases.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff. Will also routinely interact with other crew members.
Must possess effective oral and technical written communication skills to clearly communicate information to others.
Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, scanner, printers, etc.

Previous Air Force Specialty Code 2A773 highly desirable.
Multi aspect aviation qualifications / certifications / disciplines and ability to train these skills a must.
Experience supporting DoD contracts.
Strong knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within depot level maintenance.
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airplane and/or Powerplant certification a plus
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.

Basic Qualifications:
