1954

According to the McGill digital library, United Canso Oil & Gas Ltd. was incorporated in Canada in 1954.

1958

1958 Company founder passed away, and Barney B. Holland was elected President of the Company.

In 1958, Jack Pierce, the first president and personality behind the creation of Ranger, incorporated the company.

1959

Wesberta Oils was registered in Ontario and was struck from the corporate register in 1959.

1960

Pan Western Oils Ltd. was struck from the Alberta Corporate Register on March 15, 1960.

1960 The Company made its initial foray into the first generation of the fuel management business with “key-lock” fuel systems.

In 1960 Nu-Reality was acquired by Flag Oils Ltd.

1961

The Financial Post Survey of Oils says that Saskalon Uranium and Oils was dissolved in 1961.

1962

According to the Financial Post Survey of Oils, Marpoint Gas & Oil was sold to Dynamic Petroleum Products Ltd. of Calgary on May 31, 1962.

1963

According to a 1963 letter from a Calgary lawyer who was administrating an estate, federally incorporated Range Oil & Gas is defunct.

Ram River Oils was struck from the Alberta Corporate Register in 1963.

1964

1964 The Company built United Service Center, a major Texaco truck center with Mack Truck, Cummins Diesel, and Thermo-King facilities on site in Fort Worth TX and a smaller truck center in Arlington, TX.

1966

New Concord Development was struck from the Alberta Corporate Register on May 31, 1966.

1969

Redwater Consolidated Oils was struck from the Register of Alberta Companies in 1969.

1970

Total Petroleum (North America) was created as the successor to French Petroleum Company of Canada in 1970.

1971

According to the Financial Post Survey of Oils, Mill City Petroleum was taken over by Pan Ocean Oil Corporation in 1971.

Our inquirer had Northland Oils Limited stock certificates dated 1971, showing the company was incorporated under the laws of the province of Alberta.

Previously Anaconda Oil Company Ltd., Canadian Anaconda Oils Ltd. and Anaconda Petroleum Ltd., the company changed its name to Zebedee Oil Ltd. in 1971, then Osias Resources Canada Ltd. the same year.

1975

Quinalta Petroleum Ltd. was struck from the Alberta Corporate Registry on September 15, 1975.

There seems to be a discrepancy in the various reference sources as the Companies list says the status of the firm changed in 1975 (that is, it changed its name or was bought out) but offers no indication of what that change was.

1976

Petro-Canada, a Canadian Crown corporation, started operating in 1976.

1977

The second was incorporated in 1942 and in 1953 changed its name to Midcon Oil and Gas Ltd. It seems to have been wound up in 1977 but an inquiry with Alberta Registries might provide further information.

1978

Petro-Canada took over Pacific Petroleums Ltd. in 1978. (Pacific had been 48% owned by Phillips Petroleum Co.)

1980

1980 The Company was a typical, mid-sized, family-operated Texaco wholesaler that supplied 100 TEXACO stations and hundreds of commercial accounts with its fleet of trucks.

1984

Little information was found online, however a cease-trade order was issued in 1984.

1986

United Oils of Alberta Limited was struck from the Alberta Corporate Register on September 26, 1986.

1986 Gascard, Inc. was acquired by five franchisees including some of Barney Holland Oil Company's shareholders.

1987

Norbaska Mines merged with Dore Explorations Inc. in 1987 to form Dore Norbaska Resources Inc.

1988

Ranger Oil was an Alberta based company with its main office in Calgary. It changed its name again on July 26, 1988 to Resolute Corporation.

Sulpetro's assets were bought by Esso Resources Canada Limited in 1988.

1992

It appears Peregrine Petroleum Ltd. was delisted from the stock exchange in 1992 (TSX Venture symbol PGR).

In 1992, British Petroleum sold off its 57% stake in BP Canada Ltd to the public, and BP Canada demerged into Talisman Energy Inc.

1993

Scurry-Rainbow Oil Limited was acquired by Home Oil Company Limited in 1993.

1995

1, 1995 according to the Financial Post Mines and Energy listing.

1997

1997 Gascard, Inc. was sold to its main competitor, Fuelman, and Barney Holland Oil Company acquired the Fuelman license for 24 North Texas counties.

1998

As of March 3, 1998, Norcen Energy Resources Limited was acquired by Union Pacific Resources Group Inc.

2000

Then Midland Holland became inactive and was discontinued (from the federal corporate register) on 2000-01-24.

2002

Nu-Reality Oils Limited was struck from the Alberta Corporate Register on October 1, 2002.

2003

Solv-Ex was struck from the Alberta Corporate Register on July 2, 2003.

Then Star was acquired by ARC Energy Trust in 2003.

2004

2004 The Company ended its almost 50 year relationship with Texaco and sold its distributorship to Douglass Distributing, Inc., Sherman, Texas.

2006

Trizec Properties was bought out by Brookfield Properties Corp. and Blackstone Group in 2006.

2008

Top 100 Private Companies - The Fort Worth Business Press ranked the Barney Holland Oil Company the 22nd largest privately-held company in Tarrant County with sales in 2008 of $150,000,000.

2016

Eagle Energy advised that this is NOT the Maple Leaf Royalties Corp. that they acquired in January 2016.

2018

In January 2018, the Company reached the significant milestone of 90 years old and is one of the very oldest business in Fort Worth that is still owned and operated by the descendants of the founder.

2019

In 2019, the company was acquired by Occidental Petroleum.
