The Institute of Optics, University of Rochester (UR), seeks tenure-track assistant professor candidates for the Zuegel Family Professorship in laser science. Candidates should have a PhD in optics, photonics, optical engineering, physics, or a related discipline. All areas of laser science will be considered, with special consideration for candidates who are able to collaborate with UR's Laboratory for Laser Energetics. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: * Prepare and deliver nursing course instruction, including course preparation, exam development, grading, and providing timely, constructive feedback. * Teach online components of the course in alignment with the hybrid course model and active learning strategies. * Identify and address areas of student support needed for retention, persistence, and ultimate progression toward graduation. * Provide a minimum of 2.5 hours of scheduled office hours each week for student support, academic advising, and individual guidance (i.e., caring contracts). * Participate in exam analysis and question review sessions to ensure assessments are fair, accurate, and aligned with course learning outcomes. * Communicate promptly with the Program Director regarding any student concerns, progress issues, or other matters requiring attention. * Attend and contribute to course planning, coordination, and faculty meetings as required to ensure a collaborative and cohesive learning experience for students. Requirements: EDUCATION: Master's degree in nursing or nursing education is required. Candidates with a BSN who are currently enrolled in a master's program in Nursing will be considered. EXPERIENCE: * Must hold a valid New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. * Strong teaching skills with proficiency in diverse instructional strategies and delivery methods, including distance learning and hybrid learning environments. * Experience with technology integration in education and familiarity with online learning platforms and active learning strategies are essential. Additional Information: SALARY & CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Spring classes begin January 20, 2026. This is a part-time instructor position teaching both in-person and asynchronous online. This position pays a rate of $825 per contact or credit hour. The Kids Instructor provides best-in-class, educational/fitness-minded programming for our children. They organize, instruct and implement safe, fun and entertaining activities and games for children between the ages of three months to 11 years in the Kids Academy. Kids Instructors may also host parties and other events. Job Duties and Responsibilities * Greets, acknowledges, and interacts with members and guests in a friendly and professional manner * Fosters children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development by instructing organized activities in accordance with the Kids Academy Schedule * Prepares and sets up for class and transfers kids to and from programming * Maintains records of children's attendance, development, and incidents. * Monitors and interacts with children to maintain a safe and healthy environment with respect to the toys, sports equipment, other children, and surroundings * Utilizes positive behavior management techniques and communicates clearly with parents and team members * Promotes all Junior programming to increase participation in all Kids & Aquatics programming * Maintains the Kids Academy and other program areas by following the cleaning checklist and performing assigned tasks. Restocks supplies after each class * Handles incidents and emergencies in a calm and professional manner Position Requirements * Less than a High School Diploma or GED * Completion of all Kids On-Demand Required Learnings prior to first day of work * First Aid certification, Infant/Child and Adult CPR/AED certification required within the first 60 days of hire Preferred Requirements * 6+ months of teaching children ages 3 - 11 in similar programs or activities * Ability to engage a group of children in an activity * Customer service and strong communication skills Life Time is a place for everyone.
