Gallery Guide

Overview:


As a Gallery Guide, you will be the first point of contact for museum guests, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors. You will work closely with the security team to ensure the safety and well-being of staff, visitors, and the museum itself.
Responsibilities:

* Provide information about museum programming and exhibitions to visitors

* Enhance the visitor experience by being available to answer questions and provide assistance

* Work closely with the security team to protect the museum, staff, and visitors from potential risks

* Flexibility is required, including availability for weekend, evening, and holiday shifts

* Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

* Experience interacting with guests in educational, museum, gallery or similar settings desirable

* 1 year of Customer Service and cash handling experience preferred but not required

* Passionate about engaging with the public

* Open to varied viewpoints

* Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to be both friendly and authoritative

* Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds

* Ability to remain calm in stressful situations, resolving complaints with tact and courtesy, and de-escalating complex situations

* Capable of quickly assessing and communicating complex situations to senior staff

* Ability to represent the museum with a high level of integrity and professionalism, adhere to museum policies, and support management decisions in a positive, professional manner

* Ability to read, understand, and follow standard operating procedures and work assignments

* Availability to work day, evening, weekend and holiday shifts
