The Congress of Vienna in 1815 joined the Jura region to Bern canton.
Since 1931, Jura Elektroapparate AG has been a behemoth in the field of home appliance development and distribution.
Orwell had first visited the island in 1945 and had an almost fatal encounter in the Gulf of Corryvreckan that separates Jura from the smaller island of Scarba to the north.
