SUMMARY OF POSITION
We are looking for a full-time, experienced, and responsible EquipmentOperator to join our growing Environmental team. Working as part of the construction crew building and restoring streams and wetland projects using such methods as stream bank stabilization, floodplain restoration, regenerative storm water conveyance, and wetland mitigation.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Follows all project instructions from foreman or supervisor.
Ability to read construction plans while following construction specifications.
Performs daily inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers any defects and/or repairs to Operations.
Safely and efficiently operates heavy construction equipment and trucks such as excavators, track trucks/offroad haul trucks, bulldozers, rubber tire loaders, compact track loaders, tractors and attachments for equipment.
Installs stream and wetland stabilization structures such as boulder and log installation, rock cross vanes, boulder crops and outcrops toe, boulder clusters, rock and log J hooks, step pools, toe wood, etc.
Safely operates a variety of tools including hand tools, chainsaws and miscellaneous power tools.
Ensures construction equipment and tools are cleaned and stored properly.
Assists other team members while checking on grade of construction.
Installs site erosion control measures and performs site stabilization as/when necessary.
Follows all OSHA, MSHA and site-specific safety requirements.
Effectively communicates with other team members.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Valid driver's license and/or reliable transportation.
1-2 years of relevant operating experience (especially with excavators & bulldozers).
Must be able to work out of town (Monday through Friday).
Must be able to work in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions.
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and meet necessary deadlines.
Must have experience with hand tools associated with the trade.
Must follow all company rules, regulations, policies, guidelines, etc.

Duties and Requirements:
Heavy equipmentoperation: Safely and proficiently operate a front-end loader and other heavy equipment to remove snow and ice. May use mechanized snow removal equipment, utilizing snowplows, loaders and skid steers.
Site clearing: Clear snow from designated areas such as parking lots, access roads, and loading docks according to specified site maps or supervisor instructions.
Snow management: Load snow into dump trucks or strategically move and stockpile snow to minimize impact on traffic flow and site accessibility.
Vehicle maintenance: Perform and document daily pre- and post-trip inspections of the loader. Conduct routine checks on fluid levels, tire pressure, and lights, and report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team.
Safety protocols: Maintain a safe work environment by following all company safety policies and procedures. Be aware of blind spots and surroundings to prevent accidents.
Communication and reporting: Maintain clear and regular communication with a supervisor or dispatcher. Fill out daily work logs detailing equipment hours, work completed, and materials used.
Substantial physical activity required.
Must be able to lift 50lbs.
Operators must possess a valid Driver's License and equipment-appropriate MA Hoisting License (2C, 2D)
Operators must provide own transportation.

Hours may vary due to snowfall, daylight, and adverse weather conditions.

The Excavator Operator is responsible for safely operating the equipment to perform activities to include excavating, backfilling, trenching, ditching, and clean up, in support of underground utility projects. The Excavator Operator is responsible for the safety of employees, pedestrians, traffic, and equipment that enter their work area. The operator must be able to achieve maximum production from the equipment and have knowledge of hazards associated with equipmentoperation.
Responsibilities:
Operate the equipment in a proper and safe manner in support of underground utility projects.
Visually check for utilities, if utility locates are not marked or cannot be defined.
Inspect and conduct general maintenance to the equipment.
Assist the fuel driver in fueling your equipment.
Grease the equipment daily.
Keep equipment clean from dirt and excess grease.
Change buckets on equipment.
Check oil, battery, transmission, hydraulic systems, tires, radiators, tracks, and back-up alarms for the proper levels or operation prior to starting the day's work. An equipment inspection report must be filled out and turned in weekly to either your foreman or your designated shop facility.
Report all equipment breakdowns immediately.
Take direction from the Foreman or in their absence their designated appointee.
Always be near or on the machine during the day unless you are directed otherwise by a supervisor.
Assist the crew in other useful work as directed, when the machine is not in use.
Attend weekly tool-box talks and all other company safety meetings.
Work in all types of weather conditions or climate, unless there is an immediate threat of danger.
Requirements:
Must have 2 years of prior experience operating an excavator in support of underground utility projects.
Must possess a current DC Operators License.
Knowledgeable about the machine, its correct method of operation, and limitations.
The position of an operator requires the individual to possess the physical ability to perform the following task for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
Negotiate rough terrain.
Climb in and out of manholes, excavations, and/or other confined or enclosed spaces.
Climb up and down from equipment either to operate it or to perform routine maintenance checks.
Carry and use trade associated tools, equipment, or material up to a weight of 95 pounds.
Have adequate vision to observe and follow hand signals.
Stand, stoop, bend, reach, climb, walk, or sit.
Perform all associated job functions of a laborer, which includes, but is not limited to: constant physical labor such as shoveling, using sledge or claw hammers, mixing or breaking concrete, operating pipe or chain saws, carrying equipment or materials, or any other related duty.
Maintain the following tools to make minor repairs and adjustments.

1/2" Drive Ratchet

RESPONSIBILITIES:
