Essential Job Duties: • Provide day-to-day administrative support to attorneys and paralegals, including calendar management, meeting coordination, and travel arrangements. • Draft, revise, proofread, and finalize legal correspondence and documents with a high level of accuracy. • Maintain organized electronic client files, including uploading, naming, and managing documents, emails, and attachments. • Assist with billing and invoicing processes, expense reporting, and time entry coordination. • Initiate and process conflict checks, engagement letters, and new client onboarding materials. • Track attorney expenses, receipts, and reimbursements in accordance with firm policies. • Monitor attorney licensing, CLE requirements, and professional memberships. • Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, and internal stakeholders as needed. • Provide backup support to other legal assistants during peak workloads or absences. Practice Area Exposure May Include: • Bankruptcy & Creditor Remedies: Court filings, deadlines, creditor correspondence, and docket management. • Intellectual Property (Patent): USPTO filings, patent correspondence, and IP docketing support. • Litigation: Pleadings, discovery documents, trial preparation, and court filings. Minimum Requirements: • 2+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal Administrative Assistant in a law firm or corporate legal setting is required. • Prior experience in one or more of the listed practice areas is required. • Familiarity with legal document management and intake processes, including conflicts and new matter setup is required. • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail. • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and shifting workloads with professionalism. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort learning new technology tools. • Experience using iManage, Intapp, or similar legal support systems is a plus. Compensation: $60 - $170 hourly Responsibilities: Prepare various legal documents, such as motions, pleadings, briefs, and correspondence Conduct research and draft pleadings, briefs, and motions Determine case strategies and solutions to serve clients' needs after analysis Oversee paralegals, law clerks, and administrative staff Represent clients in court to argue motions during legal proceedings Provide representation for clients in court in legal cases pertaining to Immigration Law and Family Law, including deportation defense, removal proceedings, and Orders for Protection Representation at the Master Calendar and Individual Hearings before the Immigration Court Representation at USCIS interviews for adjustment of status, naturalization, and other immigration benefits Organize and record all official documents required to file cases, including family-based petitions, humanitarian applications, and domestic violence-related immigration relief Appear in family court and criminal court for domestic abuse matters, including OFPs and criminal domestic violence defense Conduct bilingual Spanish-English client consultations to ensure culturally sensitive and accessible legal services Prepare and file VAWA self-petitions, U visa applications, and TPS applications for clients facing humanitarian crises Coordinate with paralegals and support staff on case management, document preparation, and client communication Advise clients on the intersection of immigration status and family law matters, particularly in domestic violence cases Qualifications: Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs is needed Graduation from law school with Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree and experience in representing clients for at least 2 years Jobseekers should be a member of their local bar association - active member preferred Association Decision-making, public speaking, problem-solving, interpersonal skills, and communication skills are a must Strong knowledge of legal research programs such as Fastcase, Westlaw, and Lexis products is required Efficient time management and the ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously across immigration and family law matters Critical thinking and analytical skills to navigate complex immigration cases Multitasking abilities to manage administrative duties, client consultations, court appearances, and case preparation Skilled in negotiation, debate, and persuasion techniques for court proceedings and client advocacy Proficient in Immigration Law, including family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, deportation defense, and naturalization processes Bilingual Spanish-English proficiency strongly preferred to serve our Latino client base effectively is a plus Bar admission Member in good standing of relevant bar associations Understanding of cultural sensitivity and challenges facing Hispanic and Latino immigrant families Familiarity with USCIS procedures and immigration court proceedings About Company We want to be known for helping clients emerge from an extremely emotional process feeling as though they are a better person, in a better position, and that they have a team behind them that really cares and fights for them.
