Lockheed Architectural Solutions company history timeline

1957

In the commercial market Lockheed responded to Douglas’ new DC-7 with an altered version of its Constellation, including new wings and a new name—the “Star-liner”. Two years later, in 1957, the company produced a small jet called Jetstar.

1959

Their one failure was the F-104 Starfighter which was sold to the West German Luftwaffe in 1959.

1961

Even after Robert died in 1961 and Daniel Haughton was named president, the direction of the company remained the same.

1962

After the Cuban missile crisis of 1962, Senator Barry Goldwater credited the U-2 alone, with its reconnaissance abilities, for providing President Kennedy with precise and accurate information regarding the location of missile sites in Cuba.

1967

In 1967 Courtland Gross stepped down as chairman, ending a 30-year era in the history of Lockheed.

1971

By 1971 Lockheed’s financial position became so grave that it required a guaranteed government loan to remain financially afloat.

1976

Both men were compelled to resign in 1976 after details of the $30 million improprieties were publicized.

1988

In 1988, Ben and Ruth sold Lockheed Window Corp. to their son, Jeffrey Kosiver, who ran the company for 21 years.

1989

The company gained new leadership to effect these changes in 1989, when Daniel M. Tellep was named chief executive officer and chairperson after managing the company’s missile and space division for the previous four years.

1993

Reflective of this corporate strategy, Lockheed gained an enviable asset in early 1993, when it concluded a deal to acquire General Dynamics Corporation’s fighter aircraft division, maker of the high-performance F-16 fighter aircraft.

2009

In 2009, Michael S. Kosiver — Jeffrey’s son and our current president — bought the company after beginning here as a teenager and running Lockheed Architectural Solutions, Inc.’s installation operations for 18 years.
