GENERAL MAINTENANCE WORKER/GROUNDSKEEPER DEPARTMENT: Physical Plant REPORTS TO: Director of Physical Plant CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt JOB SUMMARY: Lane College seeks a General Maintenance Worker/Groundskeeper who will perform general maintenance and repairs on assigned equipment and facilities, including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems. The Groundskeeper will also be responsible for landscaping tasks, using power equipment and hand tools to maintain the facility's grounds. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintenance Functions: * Perform general plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs on the facility's equipment. * Inspect equipment and systems to identify and resolve issues. * Maintain buildings, including painting, facility maintenance, and repairs. * Evaluate facilities to determine necessary maintenance or repairs. * Work with the maintenance supervisor to plan work priorities, obtain supplies, and assess required skills for tasks. * Collaborate with team members to discuss daily work assignments. * Ensure maintenance and repair work is completed safely, effectively, and in a timely manner. * Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

PURPOSE: The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for assisting with the operation maintenance service and repair of equipment as assigned. He/she is also responsible for participating in the preventative maintenance program handling guest requests and other work orders as assigned. He/she is also responsible for performing the job in a safe and efficient manner and performing trade jobs such as carpentry, painting, plumbing etc. May require driving a shuttle van when needed (property specific). RESPONSIBILITIES: ? Assist with the operation, maintenance and repair of equipment. ? Change out light bulbs; perform preventative maintenance for guest rooms to include vinyl repair touch up paint minor furniture repair tub caulking tile repairs etc. ? Perform preventative maintenance for ice machines refrigerators kitchen equipment laundry equipment HVAC guest rooms meeting rooms the swimming pool and hot tub. ? Perform plumbing repair laundry equipment repair preventative maintenance on all exhaust fans and supply; monitor energy conservation; repair vacuum cleaners and any other small equipment upon request. ? Immediately follow up on any alarms to determine the exact location and cause- determine emergency status and report to the Front Desk with findings. ? Perform other tasks/jobs as assigned by the supervisor or manager. ? Clean the exterior parking lot and remove trash from receptacles. ? Perform minor landscaping tasks such as pulling weeds between lawn servicing dates. ? Help the housekeeping department in maintaining public areas of the hotel. ? Assist with guest transportation if property has shuttle service. ? Perform preventative maintenance tasks as identified in the CORE program and record the work completed. ? Maintain the needed stock of mechanical items needed to ensure work can be completed timely without delays. ? Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: ? Experience in a hotel or a related field preferred. ? High School diploma or equivalent required. ? Must have a valid driver's license for the applicable state (property specific). ? Must have an acceptable MVR(Motor Vehicle Driving Record) (property specific). ? Must be willing and can work a varied schedule that may include evenings nights weekends and holidays Job Settings and Physical Demands: To perform the job successfully, the candidate must be able to stand and walk 90% of their workday. Lifting and carrying up to 65 lbs. may be necessary at times and bending and stooping are required. Job is performed indoors in a well ventilated area. Salary Description $16/hour
