Job Description:
L3Harris is searching for a Manufacturing Engineer to support the Unmanned Systems business in Ashburn, VA. This role is responsible for solving manufacturing problems with innovative solutions and driving continuous improvement in our manufacturing processes, be a key part of the Integrated Product Team to develop and execute manufacturing plans, and collaborating with other engineering disciplines, program management, quality assurance, and manufacturing. Essential Functions:
Investigate and implement alternate/new manufacturing processes and technologies for emerging programs.
Provide key technical input on all product designs for manufacturing ease and cost considerations. This includes analyzing different design approaches and manufacturing methods.
Examine early assembly prototyping/testing to provide feedback in the design process.
Identify and justify capital equipment needs for capacity and capability expansion
Provide technical mentorship for team in areas of expertise
Contribute to CAM and IPT activities
Initiate and review manufacturing workflow and processes/procedures such as:
Work/assembly instructions
Rework and modification instructions
Travelers/routers
Special process instructions
Standard repair instructions
Review and approve drawings for the Manufacturing Department (i.e. sign off authority).
Communicate information between the design and manufacturing teams and ensure that design feedback from manufacturing is relayed to engineering.
Lead and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives in the organization such as 5S, Tool Control, etc.
Up to 5% travel may be required

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Masters degree in relevant engineering field or related field and/or equivalent experience desired
Experience and knowledge of manufacturing methods, specifically in composites, metals, and electronics.
