The Child Development Specialist will provide educational and program support to teachers and Providers hired at partnering Child Care Centers. As well as to provide educational and program support to ensure the provision of quality services at each Family Child Care Home. This position requires a full-time on-site presence, offering you the chance to engage directly with our team and projects, and ensuring a hands-on role in our dynamic work environment. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES The Child Development Specialist directly support the teachers to ensure they are implementing the curriculum to fidelity. They facilitate training in a variety of areas as it relates to child development and they provide guidance on how to engage with young children and build positive relationships. The Child Development Specialist monitor, review and disaggregate the data compiled from early childhood assessments complete on every child. RELATED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Able to read, write, and communicate in Standard English. Good organizational and time management skills. Good oral and written communication skills. Able to maintain confidentiality of all discussions and records. Must be resourceful, patient and sensitive to the needs of staff, children and families. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: Facilitate ongoing communication between program staff, family childcare providers, and enrolled families Conduct regular visits to each childcare center or family childcare home, some of which are unannounced, not less than twice every week Periodically verify compliance with either contract requirements or agency policy Provide recommendations for technical assistance and support the family child care provider in developing relationships with other childcare professionals Monitor observe and mentor childcare center staff Complete family childcare home PQA and classroom PQA assessments Assists childcare staff in understanding and interpreting child observation data and establishing appropriate individual child goals based on knowledge of child development. Work closely with the Family Advocate, and all content area specialists to ensure family child care providers and enrolled families are receiving and providing quality services Complete referrals Assist in compiling monthly data and information to complete various reports Must have basic knowledge of program content area policies and procedures Knowledge of Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers and Family Child Care Homes Assist in the planning and implementation of program activities and initiatives. Maintain updated vehicle maintenance and mileage reports. Ensure that the vehicle has sufficient gas and is always ready for use. CORE VALUES: Being of Service Building Relationships Always Learning Committed to Results JOB SUMMARY/ACCOUNTABILITY The Housing and Financial Coach is responsible for conducting financial capabilities and pre-purchase housing counseling, education, and credit counseling services. Coach will provide comprehensive services to help families and individuals become financially stronger and become homebuyers. This position requires the use of independent judgement and decision-making. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES This position is Grant funded. Manage a caseload of financial capability and housing counseling clients. Work with clients on a one-on-one basis to provide education, guidance and referrals tailored to each client's unique circumstances and update case records. Work with clients to prepare a budget, track expenses and provide strategies for budget improvements. Provide individualized credit counseling services; provide strategies for building credit and reducing debt. Available to clients throughout the home buying process to address any problems or answer any questions that may arise. Utilize client management systems to enter and update data in a timely manner. Create, maintain, and update client files on a regular basis per compliance guidelines. Assist with facilitating education workshops, including scheduling, marketing, and procuring speakers. Assist with developing financial coaching manuals, instruction guides, and course materials as appropriate. Provide high quality, competent and timely services that produce client and programmatic outputs and outcomes. Build and manage relationships with community partners and referral sources for client wrap around services. Work interdepartmentally with team through referring to mutual clients for greater client impact. Participate in initial training and ongoing professional development training. Successfully complete and pass counselor training, follow required protocol and program requirements. Provide basic career coaching Shall provide all relevant and available wraparound services including budget development, life skills, and resource navigation to assist clients reach their goals. All other duties as assigned. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Business Administration, Social Work or related field Hud Certification required (must be obtained within 90 days of employment) At least 2 years or more recent experience working with community residents facing critical hardships. Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required. Able to maintain confidentiality of all discussions and records. Resourceful, patient and sensitive to the needs of staff, children and families. Culturally sensitive to working in a diverse community. Evening and weekend work may be required. Detail oriented with ability to organize complex material in clear and concise manner. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. Demonstrated skill in organizing time and prioritizing workload. Good working knowledge of the components of a housing/financial counseling program. WORKING AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Works in a normal office environment with usual pressures of managing personnel and dealing with time constraints. Because of multiple sites within the department and the need to meet with others within the community, it is common to drive to several locations, sometimes in inclement weather.
