Responsibilities The Department of Pediatrics at Mayo Clinic in Mankato, MN, is seeking a board certified/board eligible Pediatric Hospitalist/Inpatient Pediatrician to join our vibrant, growing pediatric practice in Mayo Clinic Health System's largest hub site in Minnesota. Overview of Role Physicians will work both independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary care team to assess, diagnose, manage, and evaluate the health care needs of neonates, infants and children. Physicians in this position will care for patients affected by prematurity, respiratory distress, infectious diseases, congenital heart disease, and/or other anomalies. Clinical responsibilities include attendance at deliveries (including high-risk), resuscitation of newborns, care of healthy newborns, day-to-day management of babies in the Level II Nursery, and care of hospitalized children. Procedures performed include circumcisions, umbilical central lines, lumbar punctures, frenulectomies, intubations, and emergent needle decompression of pneumothorax. Practice Dynamics (Inpatient/Outpatient, Call, Outreach) This position is solely inpatient. Hospitalists stay in-house. Shifts are 24 hours in length. Backup call shifts are shared among the pediatric hospitalist team and require that staff live within 4 hours of Mankato. Relocation benefits are provided. Services Provided Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato has over 1,500 deliveries per year, the largest number of deliveries in the Mayo Clinic Health System. Mankato has the only Level II Nursery within 80 miles, and provides care to premature babies and other newborns requiring special care due to low birth weight, respiratory distress, or various other disorders. The Electronic Delivery Room platform (eDR) provides immediate electronic connectivity to Rochester neonatologists 24/7 via remote video guidance.
