Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
* Performs purposeful hourly rounding including: Pain, Position, Personal needs, and Possessions
* Promptly answers telephone/call lights in a polite manner and relaying pertinent information to the appropriate staff
* Assists nursing staff with patient care by making patient beds, giving baths, passing waters, feeding patients, providing oral care, accurate Intake & Output, assisting with mobilization/ambulation, daily weights, performing bedside glucose testing and obtaining vital signs and any other duties assigned by the RN
* Greets patient/family upon arrival to the nursing unit and assists in the transportation of patients to and from other units and test areas
* Ensures all rooms and work areas are clean and tidy (e.g. patient rooms, clean utility, and soiled utility), IV poles, suction machines, commodes, and other equipment are cleaned and properly stored
* Has working knowledge of our electronic health record system and computer
* Upon discharge of patient, prepares room for new patient including removal of patient care equipment and supplies as appropriate (e.g. IV poles, commodes, urinals, and suction canisters)
* Accurately transcribes and processes physician orders
* Orders and maintains supplies and forms
* Maintains census board of admissions, discharges and transfers to and from unit and completes assigned logs
