Diesel Mechanic Position Summary:
This position is required to safely and accurately perform general property and vehicle maintenance & repair duties in and around the shop operations in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge and understanding basic preventative maintenance and repair techniques of Class 5 through Class 8 commercial vehicles to include tank trailer inspection and maintenance related to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations is required.
Diesel Mechanic Essential Functions:
All fleet mechanic positions will be required to perform vehicle maintenance & repair duties safely and accurately in and around the shop operations in a fast-paced environment.
Fleet Mechanic Apprentices will receive hands on training and instruction on preventive maintenance/inspections/repairs of Class 5 through Class 8 Commercial Vehicles and maintenance/inspection of tank trailers.
Fleet Mechanic Levels I & II will learn and become proficient utilizing the company's maintenance software program to create and complete work orders and maintain work order/vehicle maintenance records. HM183 will build on the duties of a Level III Diesel Mechanic, Certified as a (DOT) commercial motor vehicle inspector in compliance with FMCSR's
Has been signing test forms as the Registered Inspector for at least 3 years.

Document all recommended additional repairs found, work with Shop Foreman on preparing quote for customer.

Responsibilities
Plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and repair aircraft sheet metal parts.
Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products.
Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on material to develop and trace patterns of product or parts, or uses templates.
Set up and operate fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, and routers, to cut, bend, block and form, or straighten materials.
Shape metal material over anvil, block, or other form.
Trim, file, grind, de-burr, buff, and smooth surfaces.
Comply with 14 CFR (as applicable), manufacturer's specifications, company policies, and procedures, as well as other methods accepted by the FAA, when accomplishing maintenance.
Maintain the maintenance work area in a clean and orderly condition.
Perform a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on aircraft structural assemblies and sub-assemblies such as wings, stabilizers, and flight controls.
Work with or without established blueprints to fabricate, drill, dimple, file, grind, trim, countersink and install aircraft structural assemblies and sub-assemblies.
Use of hand and/or power tools, jigs, and saws.
May disassemble, modify, rework, re-assemble, complex structures and systems.
Work with composites if interested.
Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Previous experience manufacturing simple to complex mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies.
Experience using hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as drill presses, rivet and hardware presses.
Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings.
Must have strong mechanical aptitude.
Well rounded knowledge of sheet metal tooling, equipment, materials, and processes, strongly preferred.
A drive for process improvement and learning our aircraft and systems.
Preferred
General aviation experience performing annual inspections and maintenance.
Experience working with composites and fabric flight controls.
A&P certificate

A Day In The Life of an A&P Mechanic
The position you are applying for will be under general supervision. You are responsible for the maintenance, modification, and servicing of aircraft and aircraft components following the manufacturer's specification and FARS.
Essential Duties of The A&P Mechanic
Perform routine scheduled maintenance and aircraft inspection by ACC's and current manufacturers' specifications.
Read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals and specifications to determine the feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
Modifies aircraft systems or components following drawings, engineering orders, and technical publications.
Assemble and install electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural components and accessories using hand and power tools.
Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs to minimize aircraft downtime. Requires ability to travel.
Review maintenance records and flight logs to schedule prescribed maintenance checks and overhauls.
Process all necessary documentation and paperwork for processes completed.
Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
Comply with all quality, safety, and sanitation regulations.

Position Responsibilities:
Complete all service jobs that are assigned to you.
Communicate with the Road Lead Technician on any unusual service problems encountered or for any technical assistance needed.
Attend service training classes offered to maintain knowledge on new products, or for refreshers on products not encountered too often.
Complete and submit all paperwork daily for jobs worked on (timecards, maintenance reports with customers' signature).
Communicate with dispatcher and/or service office as to status of jobs and availability for new jobs.
Identify jobs that should be sent to our shop for repair (due to complexity or safety reasons) and recommend they be sent in.
Develop and maintain relationship with territory sales representatives to keep them informed of sales opportunities you might see.
Always adhere to safety rules and policies at all times.
Essential skills and experience:
Must have very good skills in repairing powered industrial equipment, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience repairing forklift trucks and/or other products we represent, to include all types of gas, diesel, and electric trucks.
Must successfully complete any training courses required.
Strong customer orientation.
Must be a good communicator - written and verbal.
Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
Basic computer proficiency and laptop fundamentals.
Must own tools necessary to perform repairs, per our recommended tool list.
Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
