Laboratory Support Services Supervisor - Springfield Regional Medical Center Job Summary: The Laboratory Support Services Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and oversight of the laboratory operation and personnel performing testing and reporting test reports. The Lab Supervisor assists the leadership team with operational and administrative functions that facilitates excellent patient care, maintain laboratory functions, and ensures policies and procedures are feasible by making compliance is a key priority. Essential Functions: Hires and assist with onboarding top talent to create a work environment of diversity, professional growth, and continuous development Evaluates the competency of all testing personnel and assuring that the staff maintain their competency to perform test procedures and report test results promptly, accurately and proficiently Ensures that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly Participates in committees, task forces, and improvement teams as defined Ensures all changes within the laboratory are sufficiently validated before implementation Other duties as assigned Education: Associates Degree in Medical Technology or a related Science (required) Certifications: Phlebotomy Certification (preferred, not required) Experience: 5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting (required) 3 years phlebotomy experience (required) Previous experience in a leadership position in a customer service environment (preferred, not required) Experience with EKG (preferred, not required) Skills & Abilities: Demonstrates leadership competencies and skills for the position, including excellent communication, customer service, continuous quality improvement, relationship development, and decision making Possesses extensive knowledge of clinical practice or function and a thorough understanding of the organization and work environment Mercy Health is an equal opportunity employer.     Work From HomeWork From Home Work From Home, Indiana 46544 The Supervisor of Denial Management oversees the daily operations of a team responsible for medical claim denial follow-up and underpayments, and all support activities associated with managing claim denials. This position assists management in maintaining the denial management system, workflows and analysis reporting including the collection and interpretation of patterns to quantify denial causes and their financial impact. The Supervisor of Denial Management collaborates with other system departments to apprise them of trends and process improvement opportunities, with a focus on preventing future claim denials. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT Supervise the work of others and manage the performance of individuals through feedback and recommendations. Implement process innovations and works closely with Insurance Payers, Revenue Cycle leadership and Department Managers in revenue-producing departments to reduce denials and to improve upon the Revenue Cycle KPIs. Participate in people management activities for direct team members such as conducting performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and interviews. Analyze reports and use software to track, trend and identify root causes of denials; offer suggestions for process improvement to resolve denial issues, supported by documentation and data. Coordinate department efforts with other departments to align interdepartmental functioning, strategic goals, and expectations. Develop and monitor a structured, organized workflow to ensure actions carried out consistently and accurately. Act as the first point of escalation within the team by acting as a coach and mentor. Prepare operational progress or status reports on a regular basis. Independently develop effective relationships with patients, hospital departments, and other external parties. Coordinate meetings and in-service training with Payor representatives and vendors. Develop reports, policies, procedures and training materials for employee training and business improvements. Ensure compliance with state and federal billing regulations. Review the final documentation for write-offs and adds avoidable write off language.     JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * Protective Services Operations- Provide leadership, supervisory oversight, guidance, and management of staff for daily operations, to protect the property of and to ensure the safety of others, participate in the selection process for employment candidates, and represent Protective Services leadership on various CCHMC multifunctional teams. Monitors and provides guidance on calls from police, fire, and medical personnel. Accountable for setting team priorities and ensuring completion, which are guided by superior decisions, departmental priorities, procedure, and policies. Participate as department/division representative at meetings, relays relevant information and provides necessary follow up. Serve as point of contact for information concerning activities of the administrative function. Responsible for issues and concerns communicated to the department/division and provide follow up to bring issues to conclusion. Ensure appropriate operational information regarding the department/division is communicated to appropriate staff. Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with other Cincinnati Children's departments and outside agencies which the department interacts. Ensures policies and practices are understood and followed by team. Responsible to create and sustain a positive culture within Protective Services. * System Administration - Ensures that all equipment and systems are operating and functioning within defined parameters and regulatory requirements; maintains and updates systems and troubleshoots equipment and applications to identify operational problems and issues; reports and oversees technical repairs. * Quality Initiatives- Monitor Protective Services operations and identify Best Practices to improve such operations. Plan and implement departmental projects and participate in Medical Center projects as needed. Develop project plans and schedules to ensure timely completion. Coordinate activities of project team, identifying appropriate resources as needed. Recommend candidates for Protective Services, and CCHMC awards. Manage and oversee vehicle usage and turnover program. Refine scope of work and manage change control process. Prepare status reports and presentations for department leadership. Track action items and open issues log. Provides follow up and response to requests, projects or assignments assigned by Protective Services management or leadership within a reasonable time frame. * Emergency Response- Serve as the point of contact for senior leadership during time of crisis until relieved by a higher-level Protective Services management team member. Oversee the response to distress calls, panic alarms and emergency calls for disorderly conduct, disruptive persons, or combative patients. Ensure subordinates assist clinical staff with patient restraints. Monitor combative or potentially combative patients as directed. Require staff members serve and assist as a member of the trauma team. Collaborate with other departments (Social Services, MPS, and clinical staff) when dealing with persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs, causing disruption, creating an unsafe environment or other combative or criminal type behaviors. Respond to safety emergencies; evaluate the situation and act appropriately using Cincinnati Children's policy guidelines. Serve as a source of authority. Constantly maintain high visibility and provide help in times of emergency and stress. * Performance Management- Participates in and provides significant input into hiring, promotional, and termination decisions and job status recommendations. Provides ongoing communication, progress updates and one-on-ones with subordinates. Work with Education and Training Specialist to establish and maintain procedures for orientation of new employees. Mentor and provide learning and development opportunities for direct reports. Collaborate with human resources business partners and Protective Services leadership to meet the division's talent management goals. Takes the lead and participates in the yearly evaluation process. * Project Management - - Provide leadership for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of Protective Services Technology projects ensuring consistency with departmental and organizational strategy, commitments and goals. Develop project plans, resource allocation, and timeline. Manage the day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope. Provides detailed organizational communication plans when clinical operations are impacted by operational changes. * Financial Management- Using appropriate systems, is responsible for ensuring that timecards are accurate (and approved by employee). The Team Leader is responsible for the development and coordination of activities that promote clinically effective and efficient patient care. Plans, organizes and directs patient care activities under the direction of the nurse manager. Collaborates with the nurse manager in maintaining unit operations, supervises assigned personnel and consults and collaborates with other health care team members to provide safe appropriate patient care. Team Lead Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU/CVTU) - St. Anne Hospital QUALIFICATIONS: Certification in area of specialty within 2 years Maintain BLS, ACLS, and PALs as required based on unit competencies Additional requirements as required by unit EDUCATION: Current RN license in the State of Ohio. BSN preferred, or must be obtained within 5 years. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2 years Professional Nursing experience. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: o Ability to analyze clinical, financial and social situations, identifying problems and alternative courses of action. o Willingness to be flexible, resourceful, and creative in problem solving. o Ability to act independently and offer suggestions and new ideas for improving performance and operations. o Ability to guide and direct the health care team to assure optimal outcomes. Clinical expertise in specialty area. o Ability to organize and present information clearly and concisely. o Excellent interpersonal skills in order to effectively communicate with physicians, patients, families and other members of the interdisciplinary team. o Creative problem solving and critical thinking. o Excellent customer service skills. PRINCIPAL JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES Responsible for timely assignment and facilitation of admissions based on established milestones. Anticipates and intervenes to assure patient milestones are met, including rounding with physician. Participates/facilitates in Quality Flow Rounds (QFR). Maintains working knowledge of proper patient type and consults with case management as needed for status updates. Collaborates with Case Managers, Social Workers and Staff Nurses regarding discharge needs/ barriers to discharge Supports implementation of new processes to improve patient care Identifies performance improvement opportunities and offers suggestions for improvement. Role models clinical excellence and demonstrates current technical and therapeutic skills. Assists in maintaining appropriate staffing assignments using budgeted guidelines. Assists with orientation, competencies, and continuing education for staff In collaboration with the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager, enforces code of conduct and policies using effective and constructive communication skills. Assists with recruitment and selection of personnel as requested. Active participant in service recovery through investigation and intervention. Performs chart audits for accuracy and completeness. Works with other departments to coordinate patient care. Facilitates unit cleanliness and order and participates in environmental rounds. Evaluates the care provided by other members of the team.
