The down guard will actively engage with and encourage members during swim tests and lessons. * Develop intentional relationships and engage members in a way to help them meet the seven Cause Measurement goals. * Adhere to Aquatics Leading Practice Manual. * Provide appropriate feedback to participants and members as needed. * Monitor and ensure safety of participants, staff, and volunteers at assigned program areas by adhering to YMCA Lifeguarding and association lifeguard standards. * Communicate health and safety rules and regulations to participants, parents, and volunteers. Qualifications: * Must be 16 years of age or older upon hire. * Must be able to differentiate between colors (red, yellow, blue and green). * Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome. * Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations. * Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
