The Music Conservatory of Westchester (MCW) in New York is a private institution that offers its students music education in an environment that ensures individualized instruction. It is also one of the biggest and oldest schools of its kind in the region. MCW has academic programs for children, youth, teens, and adults who are learning at different levels. Students can enhance their skills through the following formats: * Coaching * Performances * Personal instruction * Professional concerts * Small groups The school even has music therapy courses for those with special needs who can benefit from a little self expression and the therapeutic properties of music. Each month, MCW hosts a multitude of musical concerts, recitals, and other special events that families and the general public are welcome to attend. With lessons in everything from acoustic guitar to vocal techniques, MCW reaches out to a range of students. Classes are provided year-round, and the length of study depends on the program and the preference of the student. Some will take a shorter 12-week series, and others enroll for 32 weeks or more. Tuition at MCW varies by course and program, and need-based scholarships are an option for qualifying applicants under the age of 18. Family discounts may be available as well.
