New York Cruise Lines has a rich history, which started back in 1945 with Circle Line Sightseeing Tours.
America's Favorite Boat Ride™ since 1945.
Since first opening in 1945, have hosted over 80 million passengers on our cruises.
It was reconfigured at Brooklyn’s Mill Basin in 1955 to accommodate as many as 500 sightseers and renamed Circle Line Sightseer X. Over the next 52 years, the boat circumnavigated Manhattan thousands of times and also carried tourists to the recreation area in Sandy Hook, N.J.
On September 11th, 2001, Circle Line Sightseeing suspends normal sightseeing operations and volunteers their services and vessels to transport over 30,000 workers and visitors safely to New Jersey.
New York Water Taxi began in 2002 as a partnership between Douglas Durst, the real estate developer and civic benefactor, and Tom Fox, a champion of New York City’s waterfront who has left an imprint on shorelines around the city.
The boat spent over 50 years carrying tourists on three-hour cruises around Manhattan before it was retired in 2007.
Circle Line is part of the first responders to arrive on January 15, 2009, when United States Airways Flight 1549 landed in the Hudson River.
