Northwest Christian College company history timeline

1850

Chartered by Indiana General Assembly, 1850.

1855

Opened at this site, 1855, on land provided by Ovid Butler.

1928

Present location in Fairview Park was made possible through donations by prominent citizens; opened for classes, 1928.

1934

Northwest University was founded by the Northwest Ministry Network of the Assemblies of God and opened to students on October 1, 1934.

1965

The Northwestern Connecticut Community College was founded in 1965 by Winsted residents, including Ralph Nader's older brother, Shafeek Nader and Norfolk native Ralph H. Keiller. It started as a private institution but the state took over funding and operation by November 1965.

1980

Under the leadership of Rev Ralph Parnwell, Riverstone Christian Community Primary School was opened on the 4 February 1980, with Mr Michael Carman as the Founding Principal and 21 students enrolled from Kindergarten to Year 6.

1981

The Northwestern Community College Foundation was incorporated in 1981.

1987

The Alpha Nu Epsilon chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa (the academic honor society for two-year colleges) was established at NCCC in 1987.

1989

By 1989 the school had grown and now consisted of students up to Year 9, with 227 students in total.

1992

Erected 1992 Indiana Historical Bureau, Old Northside Foundation, and Butler University

1999

The school grew consistently over the next few years and by 1999, 750 students were enrolled.

2006

In 2006, during a challenging time for the school, the school was renamed Norwest Christian College and Mr Ian Maynard, the Head of Secondary, became Principal.
