What you'll do:
Understands and applies policies and procedures displaying basic knowledge on operational matters.
Responds to critical incidents and takes direction on immediate actions to stop acts of violence, render first aid, and resolve issues during the response phase of Incident Management.
Participates in training drills, receives feedback on response, and participates in after action reviews for emergency response situations.
Monitors alarms, cameras, fire alarm systems, and access control programs along with radio traffic, dispatching officers, coordinating response actions for critical incidents and documenting activities for escalation to incident reports.
Controls access for employees and visitors, creates and issues credentials, and responds to policy violations.
Performs patrols of facilities/properties to prevent trespassing, theft, vandalism, parking/traffic infractions and unauthorized conduct impacting the safety of the campus.
Enforces parking and traffic controls and composes incident reports.
Completes duty assignments and on-the-job duty position training.
Conducts post-related activities during special events and supports executive protection or law enforcement during incident response.
Documents shift activities, and ensures detailed information is passed on to team members.
Attends and completes all training sessions and responds to feedback from security management and the training team.
Completes Defensive Tactics and Handgun training and Standards Evaluation, complies with USAA Force Continuum, issue/turn-in, storage/transportation procedures and maintains State handgun licensing.

* Investigate complaints and violations of university policy and South Carolina law within Converse's jurisdiction and patrol area. This may include viewing camera footage, talking with witnesses, capturing and handling of evident and writing of incident reports.
* Complete and submit appropriate and timely reports for all complaints and activities including but not limited to accidents, injuries and criminal activities. Testify in court as necessary.
Community Services
* Render first aid and life support techniques when necessary.
* Proactively implement the department's community policy program.
* Interact positively with campus community members on a daily basis and assist members in identifying potential safety and/or criminal problems.
* Provide excellent customer service to all university students, faculty, staff and visitors.
* Provide direction, escorts and other assistance to students, faculty, staff and visitors as needed.
Other Services
* Complete all training and recertification programs as assigned by training officer, supervisor and/or Director, including but not limited to participation in drills, evacuation procedures, disaster preparedness, safety programming and more.
* Wear uniforms as directed and handle all assigned weapons, tools and the use of campus property including motor vehicles with care and responsibility.

Crime Analyst Police Department Salary: $23.33 - $38.49 Hourly / $48,526.40 - $80,059.20 Annually Non-Exempt Work Schedule: 8-5 Mon-Fri This position is responsible for collecting, categorizing, analyzing, and disseminating timely and accurate information that describes crime patterns, crime trends, and potential suspects; responsible for analyzing crime and police incident patterns and trends to aid in the prevention, suppression, and resolution of criminal activity.

* Performs a variety of strategic, tactical, and administrative duties relating to the systematic process of collecting, categorizing, analyzing, and disseminating timely, accurate, and useful information that describes crime patterns, crime trends, and potential suspects.
* Provides information, data, and statistics to police, city administration, various committees, and City Council for decision-making purposes as it relates to crime; presents analysis and statistics in various internal and external forums.
* Provides maintenance and upgrades to the GIS portion of the Tyler Public Safety System; performs regular updates of addresses, buildings, police beats, and city limit changes.
* Develops statistical data resources to assist in proactive and targeted investigations, preventative enforcement and education, identification of theft patterns, trends, criminal organizations, and identification of known and repeat offenders.
* Informs the department on how crime analysis products should be used to combat crime.
* Works with senior command staff to streamline processes.
* Creates a weekly report with information from crime analysts and police personnel, then presents the report to command staff.
* Prepares a variety of reports such as crime information and patrol bulletins, monthly and quarterly activity summaries, departmental annual reports, and specific statistical/research reports.
* Conducts statistical and strategic analysis, which includes preparing monthly, quarterly, annual, and on-request reports.
* Prepares a variety of mapping products using ESRI ArcPro, the Crime Analysis Toolbar, and ArcGIS Online; updates and maintains the Statesville Police Department Hub Page.
* Collects and organizes criminal information from all available resources, including the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) system, the National Incident-Based System (NIBRS), field interview reports, intelligence sources, other agencies, media, crime bulletins, review of crime reports and supplements, informational surveys, and retrieval of crime information to study and analyze past and existing crime series, patterns, and trends.

Education and/or Experience
* Associate degree in criminal justice, statistics, geographic information systems (GIS), forensic science, computer forensics, or related field.
Other Requirements
* Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license, or any valid driver's license with ability to obtain a North Carolina driver's license within 60 days of establishing a permanent residence in North Carolina.
* Comprehensive knowledge of crime analysis applications to include various formulas, theories, and practices.
* Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and theory of GIS and relational databases and how they apply to crime analysis.
* Comprehensive knowledge of various software programs used in the department.
* General knowledge of the pertinent local, state, and federal laws, codes, and regulations pertaining to open records and the dissemination of information.
* General knowledge of the methods and techniques used to present statistical data, prepare intelligence reports, link charts, association matrices, criminal intelligence information bulletins, reports, and graphics.
* Ability to use statistical formulas to make crime predictions and projections.
* Ability to compile statistical data and prepare clear and accurate reports.
* Ability to create effective GIS maps.

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The primary responsibility of the Campus Safety Officer (CSO) is to protect the members of the Converse community alongside the property and assets of the university. Under the general supervision of a Shift Sergeant, the officer will engage in proactive and responsive measures to ensure safety and security through a courteous, helpful, unbiased and professional manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Protective Services
Routinely patrol campus and other properties under jurisdiction on foot, motor vehicles or other authorized bikes and transportation. Watch for unauthorized persons, suspicious or criminal activities, disturbances and violations through regular patrols and monitoring of camera systems
Secure (lock and unlock) campus facilities per directives. Conduct security and safety checks and patrols of all buildings and campus grounds.
Observe and report safety hazards to appropriate personnel and departments.
Observe weather conditions on and around campus property and report dangerous or unusual weather-related activity to management for timely response and communication.
Respond to and manage all emergencies and disasters on campus.
Enforcement Services
Enforce department and university policies and regulations as related to safety and security, including applicable state and federal laws on Converse property and other areas within jurisdiction.
Enforce traffic and parking regulations within Converse's jurisdiction. Assist campus and local law enforcement with all traffic control needs such as necessary including directing traffic, posting signage, setting and removal of traffic cones and barricades and more.
Conduct arrests and issue trespasses according to departmental policies and SLED regulations.
Investigate complaints and violations of university policy and South Carolina law within Converse's jurisdiction and patrol area. This may include viewing camera footage, talking with witnesses, capturing and handling of evident and writing of incident reports.
Complete and submit appropriate and timely reports for all complaints and activities including but not limited to accidents, injuries and criminal activities. Testify in court as necessary.
Community Services
Render first aid and life support techniques when necessary.
Proactively implement the department's community policy program.
Interact positively with campus community members on a daily basis and assist members in identifying potential safety and/or criminal problems.
Provide excellent customer service to all university students, faculty, staff and visitors.
Provide direction, escorts and other assistance to students, faculty, staff and visitors as needed.
Other Services
Complete all training and recertification programs as assigned by training officer, supervisor and/or Director, including but not limited to participation in drills, evacuation procedures, disaster preparedness, safety programming and more.
Wear uniforms as directed and handle all assigned weapons, tools and the use of campus property including motor vehicles with care and responsibility.
Perform other services and duties as assigned

ASP Baton certification
