The PRN Patient Care Technician assists with the conduct of clinical trials through overseeing the care of clinical trial subjects while housed on unit. Assist with the collection of biological samples, perform venipuncture, electrocardiograms, tube labeling, sample processing, documenting in subject charts, and other related tasks in accordance with the doctor's written orders. Perform regular safety and status checks on clinical trial subjects housed on unit as determined by physician orders.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Management and Administration:
Oversee all aspects of medication preparation, administration and documentation provided by the doctors orders.Maintain an organized system of documentation of all administration including times, double count and medication refills required.Provide medication refill spreadsheet to campus nurse on a bi-weekly basis.Ensure all new medication has written and/or verbal approval from the caseworker, parent, probation officer or guardian.Oversee and report on medication administration in the programs. Inspect medication cabinets weekly, and medication administration records daily to ensure compliance with licensing guidelines and best practices. Discard unused medication following RMYA procedure.Coordinate with the campus nurse to obtain supplies for over-the-counter medication supplies needed for the programs.Inspect First Aid kits in the cabins, vehicles, and facilities on campus for supplies, expired supplies and order as needed.Receive medication deliveries from the pharmacy and distribute to the appropriate programs.Coordinate resident appointments with the medical coordinator or campus nurse to specialist, laboratory and urgent care visits as needed.Complete medication Error Report as needed and communicate errors to campus nurse and program administrators.Attend weekly staff meetings with the campus nurse and medical coordinator.Know the medication changes of each resident and ensure approval for medication changes is obtained when needed.Assist with all aspects of bi-monthly Psychiatry clinic to include scheduling, attending the resident doctors scheduled visits, taking notes of medication changes, and providing notes to the program nurse.Relationships and Collaboration:

Technician Duties. You will ensure quality comes first by preparing machines for hemodialysis treatments, cleaning and disinfecting machines after treatment, and conducting machine safety checks and logging results for quality control, ensuring all protocols and regulations are followed.
Safety and Quality. You will use appropriate safety measures, including personal protective equipment. Working under the supervision of a Charge Nurse, you will adhere to all company policies, procedures, and state/federal laws and regulations. The PRN Patient Care Technician assists with the conduct of clinical trials through overseeing the care of clinical trial subjects while housed on unit. Assist with the collection of biological samples, perform venipuncture, electrocardiograms, tube labeling, sample processing, documenting in subject charts, and other related tasks in accordance with the doctor's written orders. In executing these responsibilities, the Patient Care Technician is guided by Good Clinical Practices (GCP), International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and company standard operating procedures and policies.
Responsibilities:
Perform regular safety and status checks on clinical trial subjects housed on unit as determined by physician orders.
Perform appropriate research protocol procedures as delegated which may include but are not limited to vital signs, blood collection and processing, ECGs, and point of care laboratory tests.
Perform basic lab procedures as delegated including but not limited to preparation of specimen tubes and labels, blood specimen collection, centrifuge operation, storing and shipping of lab specimens, accountability of specimens and notification of courier for specimen pick-ups.
Ensure that biological specimens are disposed of appropriately.
Maintain a clean, safe work environment for both fellow employees and clinical trial subjects.
Engage the clinical trial subjects in group activities or one-on-one activities while housed on unit.
Assure subjects have linens, toiletry items, and other sundries needed while the subject is housed on the unit.
Serve meals and provide snacks to clinical trial subjects while subjects are housed on unit.
Study, learn and comply with ERG site standard operating procedures, and other policies, practices and regulations where applicable.
