The Surgical Technician assists with the nursing care of the patients in the OR by performing routine and delegated duties according to the standards of practice and policy and procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse at all times. Full Time Days The OR Technician (Multi-specialty) is a member of the surgical team who assumes the responsibility for a surgical specialty, serving as the main resource person for instrumentation, equipment, supplies, and procedures within the assigned specialty. He/she functions under the direction of the RN, assisting with the intraoperative care of patients by performing in the scrub role during surgical procedures. Additional duties may also include, but are not limited to, picking supplies/ instruments for cases, putting away supplies and equipment, decontamination of instruments, and stocking supplies in OR rooms, The OR Technician will also be able to function on all surgical procedures and will participate in the on-call schedule as assigned. Scrubs on surgical procedures. Maintains sterile conditions. Prepares Operating Room for procedures. Prepares equipment for decontamination. Responsible for the continuous observation of cardiac rhythms on patients requiring telemetry monitoring and reporting of dysrhythmia to the appropriate individual. Estimated pay range for this position is $16.00 - $19.08 / hour depending on experience. Degrees: * High School,Cert,GED,Trn,Exper. Additional Qualifications: * 1 year experience preferred. * Basic Life Support preferred. * Successful completion of an electrocardiogram course or experience and upon hire successful completion of the electrocardiogram monitoring exam within 30 days of hire. * Basic computer skills. Provides indirect care in the department setting. Monitors cardiac rhythms via direct screen or telemetry monitors and reports arrhythmias to Registered Nurse/and Charge nurse. Meets communication needs of the department. Reports to the Registered Nurse in charge. Position Qualification/Licenses & Certifications: Attendance and successful completion of: a) Basic EKG course or Telemetry Technician course preferred; advanced EKG preferred. b) 2 weeks telemetry observation with experienced personnel. One (1) year telemetry technician experience in similar job capacity preferred. Basic computer knowledge. Requires a through knowledge of basic cardiac monitoring functions and rhythms identification. Must be able to work rapidly under stressful situations with interruptions. BLS Certification from the American Red Cross. Ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally with all levels of the organization. Must clear background and drug test required.
