Following 5 years as chair of pathology at Emory, Dr. Madara served as dean of the medical school and CEO of the hospitals at the University of Chicago, bringing together the university’s biomedical research, teaching and clinical activities. While there, he oversaw the renewal of the institution’s biomedical campus and engineered significant new affiliations with community hospitals, teaching hospital systems, community clinics and national research organizations. Dr. Madara also served as senior advisor with Leavitt Partners, an innovative health care consulting and private-equity firm founded by former Secretary of Health and Human Services, Mike Leavitt. Having published more than 200 original papers and chapters, Dr. Madara has received both national and international awards, and served as editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Pathology and as president of the American Board of Pathology. In addition to Modern Healthcare consistently naming him as one of the nation’s 50 most influential physician executives, as well as one of the nation’s 100 most influential people in health care, he is a past recipient of a prestigious MERIT Award from the National Institutes of Health. He received the 2011 Davenport Award for lifetime achievement in gastrointestinal disease from the American Physiological Society and the 2011 Mentoring Award for lifetime achievement from the American Gastroenterological Society. Dr. Madara is an elected member of both the American Society of Clinical Investigation and the Association of American Physicians. He also co-chairs the Value Incentives and Systems Innovation Collaborative of the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), and is a member of NAM’s Leadership Consortium for Value & Science-Driven Health Care. Dr. Madara and his wife Vicki have 2 children, Max and Alexis.

As Chairman of the Board of Managers for ConnectedHealth, Ann Mond Johnson works with the senior management team on developing and executing strategy for ConnectedHealth. Ann has developed a proven track record of growing innovative and highly profitable health-data information companies. Most recently, she was CEO and co-founder of Subimo, which licensed online interactive tools to employers and health plans to improve the health of their constituents and reduce their health-care outlay. Subimo’s clients included over 30 Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans as well as Fortune 100 corporations. Ann led the management team at Subimo, raised start-up funds and positioned the Company as a market leader in the field of consumerism in health care. In 2006, Subimo was acquired by WebMD; Ann served as Senior Vice President at WebMD Health Services through 2008. Previously, she was Senior Vice President at Sachs Group (now part of Truven Health), the leading provider of health-care information for health systems and providers. Ann is a highly regarded and sought after speaker, and serves as ConnectedHealth’s spokesperson. She has presented at a range of professional meetings and corporations, including Health 2.0, America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), the Forum for Health Care Strategy, the Society for Health Care Planning and Marketing, the Society for Human Resources Management, and the Employee Benefits Forum. Ann has also served on the advisory boards to several businesses and start-ups, including Ludi, Inc., which helps hospitals and health systems manage complicated physician agreements, thereby decreasing costs and improving compliance. She is currently on the advisory board for Round Earth Media, a non-profit media organization. 

Ann earned a bachelor’s degree from Carleton College, and a master’s degree in health-care administration and MBA from the University of Minnesota.
