    Responsibilities: Providing subject matter expertise and support in regulatory compliance processes of NEPA, Clean Water Act Endangered Species Act, and other federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Assisting in the preparation of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents including Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements for transportation or other infrastructure (water, wastewater, etc.) projects in accordance with Texas Department of Transportation or other state/federal agency standards. Performing/supporting and/or overseeing environmental technical studies and report preparation, as appropriate. Assisting in public and agency outreach. Serving as an environmental task lead which may include tracking and development of scopes of work, budgets, and schedule. For historians, conducting historic research, conducting historic resources surveys and assessments, including site inspections, research, photography and evaluation Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in biological sciences, environmental sciences, transportation planning, environmental planning, anthropology, archeology, history, architectural history, historic preservation, geography, GIS or similar discipline/closely related field Minimum 7 years of related consulting or agency experience Performing NEPA studies for transportation projects as environmental task lead, SME or other support role, especially for TxDOT and/or water resource related projects Practical knowledge and experience with environmental regulations: Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act, Environmental Justice, Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, and others DOT experience is preferred (e.g. TxDOT, ODOT, LaDOTD) Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project, ArcGIS Candidate must provide research and writing examples, as applicable Preferred Additional Qualifications Historian-related Candidate: Knowledge of and interest in historic preservation, including the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties; experience with Section 4(f) of the US DOT Act is a plus.
