Qualifications

* A valid Drivers License is required.

Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Public Safety Operations Manager, Shift Supervisor or designee, this position performs all duties and responsibilities related to the day-to-day protection and security of Southcoast Health System (SHS) and Southcoast Hospitals Group (SHG) assets and information as well as the safety of all persons on hospital/SHS property. The incumbent Officer proactively guards against fire, theft, vandalism and unauthorized entry to SHG grounds and/or buildings while controlling access points.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent required, associates degree preferred.
Prior military, security, corrections, police, or relevant experience a plus.
May require obtaining Special Police/Constable powers within a designated municipality.
Over three months up to and including one year of experience is required.
A valid Drivers License is required.
Must have, or have the ability to obtain within a six month to one-year period, a Massachusetts Fire Arms Identification Card, and License to Carry Firearms (Pistol Permit).
Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) De-Escalation Training; OC Pepper (OCAT), Handcuffing (PATH), Baton (PPBT) education and training within 120 days of hire. BLS, CPR and First Responder certification required within 120 days of hire.
Is eligible to obtain appointment as a special policeofficer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts under MGL c.22C Section 63 or as a New Bedford Special PoliceOfficer under city/NBPD requirements.
Must obtain International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) Basic Officer Certification within one year of appointment.
Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired.
Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.
Pay Range USD $22.22 - USD $30.30 /Hr.
