Wound Care Physician - South Sacramento
The Permanente Medical Group is actively seeking a Board Certified/Eligible physician who is experienced in wound care for our South Sacramento facility. The ideal candidate will have experience within an outpatient wound care clinic or academic setting and preferably, but not mandatory, with surgical training, hyperbaric medicine and/or vascular medicine training.
Procedures are a part of daily work and include debridement, hematoma evacuation, application of biologic dressings, biopsies, etc. Based on skill set it may also include operative debridement and skin grafting. You will also provide supervision of the wound and ostomy nurses. There is potential for administrative work if desired.
This position will be based out of the Kaiser South Sacramento Medical Facility but will be part of our Greater Sacramento Valley Wound and Ostomy service. The provider will spend time at our Sacramento and Roseville campuses as well. You will work with a team of certified wound and ostomy nurses who function in an extended role at each site and will have medical assistant support at each site as well.
Hours will be Monday-Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm with an hour lunch daily. Currently, there is no call required and there is potential for academic affiliation and education of Family Practice residents through our new Family Practice residency program. Research opportunities are available if interested.
As a member of one of the largest medical groups in the country you will collaborate closely with our Podiatric wound care providers, vascular surgery, endocrinology, orthopedics, plastics, nutrition, and social services. This position is a shareholder track position with the opportunity for full partnership after three years of service.
Full-time annual salary range is $320,040 to $330,000 plus additional potential incentives up to $44,350*. Reduced schedules with pro-rated compensation may be available. *Some incentive opportunities are estimates based on potential premium pay.

Facilitate admissions, transfers, discharges
First assist in surgeries or perform procedures as applicable
Round on inpatients
Performs admission evaluation on patients to include: obtaining basic medical information and history, reviewing patients medical record, performing physical exam, documenting findings into patient medical record, and reporting deviations from normal findings to attending physician.
Provides patient and family with pre-operative/pre-procedure and other pertinent education.
Answers questions regarding surgery or procedures, recovery and risk factor modification; provides blood transfusion information as applicable; performs peri-operative procedures; locates and utilizes diagnostic images, instruments and pertinent patient information.
Reviews patient chart noting allergies, pertinent medical history, and abnormal physical findings.
Assists in performing surgical procedures and other procedures consistent with the standards of care and practice guidelines.
Depending on the specialty, may work as the First Assist during surgical procedures, start IVs, and/or perform suturing.
Performs post-operative procedures to include entering standard post-operative orders into patient medical records; assists physicians with evaluation and management of patients status during recovery; reviews vital signs, laboratory and diagnostic studies; assists with management of patients.
Facilitates patient discharge; dictates discharge and transfer summaries in a timely manner.
The Senior Physician Assistant provides a high level of clinical and operational expertise and may function as a mentor to less experienced Physician Assistants.
May collaborate with the supervising physician, manager and other department members on performance improvement activities.

Launched with a vision to advance health through leadership, the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis seeks physician assistant faculty to collaborate with faculty from multiple disciplines and further this vision to prepare clinicians who deliver care as members of health care teams. Faculty fully participate in the development of the school?s high-impact and interprofessional programs. Physician assistant faculty provide a combination clinical teaching activities, including didactic instruction, clinical skills lab instruction, curriculum development and assessment, and coordination of course activities related to the didactic and clinical phases of the program.
Part-time and full-time, non-tenured positions at the Assistant and Associate rank in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) Series are available at UC Davis Health, which is located on a modern, 140-acre campus in Sacramento, California. The Sacramento campus is home to the School of Nursing, School of Medicine, UC Davis Medical Center (including a level-I trauma center and burn unit, and a full range of outpatient services), a fully accredited Children?s Hospital, and an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Practice locations include UC Davis Health Medical Center, UC Davis department and primary care network clinics, Sacramento County clinics, local FQHCs and other clinical sites.
TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include working in collaboration with the program directors and program faculty to ensure quality program curriculum and instruction in the didactic and clinical phases of the program. Duties include course management, teaching, skills labs, student advisement, and student formative and summative evaluation. Responsibilities may also include participation in student remediation, test writing and analysis, program admissions, accreditation processes, and program assessment to include serving on committees essential to physician assistant programs and school?s functioning.
These faculty will also be involved in scholarly activity and committee service commensurate with this position. Successful part-time candidates may do a pro-rated portion of the activities described above.
