Internship Outcomes: Use simulation to conduct combustion CFD analysis to predict combustor performance parameters. Solve combustor design and analysis problems using pre-processing and CFD tools. Primary Skills Developed: Learn how to analyze projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to engineering practices, procedures, and program requirements. Learn how to perform combustion simulations of gas turbine combustor components from CAD to post-processing. Basic Qualifications: Pursuing a Masters degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering. Minimum GPA of 4.0/5.0. Desired Qualifications: Background in CFD and reacting flows/combustion modeling. Experience using CAD and meshing tools. Candidates with advanced course work in CFD, thermoacoustic, combustion, design and manufacturing, and experience in advanced programming languages such as C++ and Python are preferred. Experience in gas turbine CFD modeling with commercial codes such as Ansys Fluent, Star-CCM+ or CharLES.
