POSITION SUMMARY
This position requires a highly motivated individual who will take direction from the Curator, Supervisor, and Marine Mammal Staff in assisting with the animal care routine and maintenance for the Atlantic bottlenose dolphin and north American river otter areas. As an intern, you can expect to get experience in the daily care of our Atlantic bottlenose dolphins and north American river otters and learn what it takes to be a marine mammal trainer. Throughout the internship, interns will learn various tasks required for the daily operation of a marine mammal facility; gain practical training experience by working closely with staff during training and enrichment sessions; and develop skills in time management, communication, public speaking, and teamwork. The position will also be responsible for adhering to all aquarium safety protocols, and standard operating procedures. The goal is to help interns succeed professionally in any chosen field.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists marine mammal staff in the overall daily care of the dolphins and otters

The program is designed to prepare the individual for a residency in a corresponding discipline or entry into private practice. The program is directly supported by 2 diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, 2 diplomates of the American College of Theriogenologists, 1 diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (Food Animal), 2 clinical faculty professors, 2 clinical instructors, and 4 support staff. The food animal in house clinic annual case load is 1,200-1,500 cases/year (beef 60%, dairy 30%, small ruminants 10%), and ambulatory makes 1000 trips/year (40% equine, 40% beef cow/calf and 20% dairy/small ruminants).

In addition to workup and management of patients, with related communication with clients and referring veterinarians, other duties will include assisting in new student orientation, and supervision and instruction of DVM students and veterinary technology students. These includes after-hours and weekend emergencies for both the Food Animal in house and Ambulatory services. Participation in teaching rounds for DVM students, and seminars and journal club for house officers, is required. Providing assistance in veterinary teaching laboratory sessions will be required. Creative activities such as research and manuscript preparation are encouraged, but not required.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
* Complete Salesforce Trailhead training to develop foundational knowledge of Salesforce concepts, tools, and best practices.
* Assist with integrating external systems into Salesforce, learning about APIs, data mapping, and automation processes.
* Gain hands-on experience with Apex development, including triggers, classes, and test methods.
* Support data cleansing efforts by identifying duplicate records, correcting inconsistencies, and ensuring data integrity.
* Learn about Ergon's business processes and how Salesforce is leveraged to support sales, service, and operational functions.
* Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to understand user needs and gather requirements.
* Participate in team meetings, actively contributing ideas and solutions to improve Salesforce processes.
* Document processes, solutions, and best practices to support knowledge sharing across the team.
* Develop practical communication skills to interact with technical peers and business users confidently.
* Assist in testing and validating new Salesforce features and updates before deployment.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for enthusiastic students who meet the following criteria:
* Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Computer Science or a similar field.
