Progress House history

Progress House later moved to 1703 Talbot Street, and then again in 1969 to 14 North Highland, where it would remain for the next 32 years.

In 1971, they expanded their program to include the Purdy Treatment Center for women while simultaneously founding a summer camp for underserved youth.

He was called to do more for the men and women he'd encountered through his ministry and in 1977, despite caution and dismay from local residents, Progress House Association was established.

Kelly Maxwell attended business college after his military commitment, and worked as an investment counselor and a real estate investor until he returned to aerospace in 1981.

Kelly Maxwell is the CEO/Founder of the Progress House Veterans Project and Structured Sober Living Environment established in 1991.

Progress House later moved to 1703 Talbot Street, and then again in 1969 to 14 North Highland, where it would remain for the next 32 years. It all started in a small house in the 2000 block of North New Jersey Street, with barely enough room for 10 men.

In January 2013, the Orenda Veterans Project was launched in Apple Valley, CA that is dedicated specifically for our veterans.

By 2017 Progress House expanded to three locations including Peninsula Work Release and Helen B. Ratcliff House to house over 200 men and women.

Tickets cost is $35/person, ($30/member of Indiana Landmarks or Dunes National Park Association) (2018 prices, subject to change).

On November 1, 2019 Progress House became a subsidiary of Aspire Indiana Health, an independent nonprofit healthcare provider with more than a half-century of service to some of the most vulnerable Hoosiers.
