    The Communications and Public Relations Intern will gain professional communications/non-profit exposure and experience working with members of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra Marketing and Communications team. This position requires approximately 20-25 hours per week and may be scheduled around school requirements. This internship is for summer 2026-approximately mid-May through mid-August-and may be scheduled around school obligations. Compensation is $15/hour. Position reports to Public Relations Director. RESPONSIBILTIES: Research, write, and edit copy for marketing and communications materials, including media advisories and press releases; composer and guest artist biographical information; website copy; and digital stories. Collate, archive, and organize media coverage; update and maintain media lists. Pitch, research, and write stories about the orchestra, its people, and its programs for the orchestra's digital magazine, SLSO Stories. Support Public Relations functions, including interview preparation, media pitches, press kit creation and maintenance, and media events. Support SLSO social media activities as needed. Participate in departmental and editorial meetings. Represent the SLSO at the marketing table at occasional night or weekend events. Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Must be pursuing a career in marketing, communications or public relations; or are in pursuit of or have recently received a college degree, preferably in the fields of Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Business, Music, or Non-Profit Management. Demonstrated proficiency in writing, communication, and organization. Ability to work with confidential information. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Reliable transportation and ability to attend occasional night or weekend events. Under general direction, works from general objectives with little functional guidance.
