IN-PROCESS QUALITY ASSURACE TECHNICIAN (IPQAT) Department: Quality Manager: Quality supervisor/Quality Head Status: Salaried Non-Exempt The In-process Quality Assurance Technician (IPQAT) is responsible for performing the real-time quality checks and for coordinating different quality activities on the shop floor during the various stages of manufacturing process (end-to-end manufacturing lifecycle - from raw/pack materials to finished products). This role ensures that all products are manufactured and documented in compliance with cGMP regulations, customer requirements and internal SOPs. Key Responsibilities: Conduct regular inspection/checks of in-process and finished products using established procedures to ensure conformance with specifications and standards. Monitor and verify the critical control points, line clearance and cleanliness prior to batch production to ensure the production line area is free of any product, components and documentation of the previous product. Conduct regular review of Batch Manufacturing Records and associated forms for accuracy and completeness, and according to good documentation practices. Verify the Batch History Record changeover forms are completed properly and accurately. Verify calibration status of equipment and instruments used in manufacturing. Collect & label samples according to the established sampling plan for laboratory testing and inspection. Ensure adherence to cGMP requirements and good documentation practices on the shop floor. Enforce Controlled documents usage on the shop floor. Issue nonconformance reports for quality related issues on the shop floor. Escalate quality issues immediately to immediate supervisor and Quality Head Responsible for placing quality holds or rejected status on the non-conforming products and its proper segregation to avoid mix-up with good products. Participate in the root-cause investigations and support CAPA implementation on the shop floor. Oversee any product rework due to quality issues and ensure proper documentation as per the rework instructions. Inspect the reworked products to confirm corrected products meet customer requirements. Complete other tasks assigned by your supervisor. Basic Qualifications: Meet legal minimum age requirement. Authorized to work in the United States. College degree preferred in science. Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office. 2-5 years of manufacturing experience in a cGMP regulated facility. Must be able to work in any of the 3 shifts and overtime, if and as needed. Other Required Skills: Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Working knowledge of quality control methods and techniques such as first article, in-process and final assembly inspections, manufacturing processes, testing procedures and analyzing information to document results in detail. Computer experience utilizing MS Word and/or ERP system. Primary Functions and responsibilities: QUALITY INSPECTIONS: · Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams and engineering specification sheets to obtain product information such as specified materials, cosmetic requirements and dimensions. · Verifies conformity of finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work · Verifies conformity of first piece by conforming specifications; conducting visual and measurement test; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work · Verifies products going to outside service by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work · Accurately perform and complete First Article inspection reports and Non-conformance reports · Inspects production components and subassemblies for conformance to predetermined standards, specifications, tolerance and quality procedures. · Verifies conformity in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervision. · Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database (log in in E2; KPIs logs etc.) · Will document results of all inspection findings and results including detailed descriptions/discrepancies and monitor corrective actions to inspection findings · Performs complex and critical inspection procedures requiring special set-up of new or unique equipment and interpretation of test data from a variety of sources. · Perform line, in-process, subassembly, shipping and receiving inspections as needed. MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT: · Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; · Perform routine quality audits of controlled manufacturing area for material identification, traceability, equipment calibration, etc and prepare reports under the direction of Quality Manager and document results. · Ensure calibration and maintenance is performed on inspection equipment. The Quality Technician plays a critical role in ensuring products meet customer requirements, internal quality standards, and regulatory expectations in a contract manufacturing environment. This position performs inspections, testing, and documentation to validate materials, components, and finished products while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and corrective action processes. Duties/Responsibilities: Inspection & Testing * Inspect parts using a variety of measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, and CMM (if applicable). * Identify nonconforming material and initiate containment activities as necessary. Continuous improvement * Support and implement lean manufacturing principles * Conduct 5S improvements Documentation & Records * Accurately complete inspection records, control charts, and quality documentation. * Maintain traceability and documentation in accordance with customer, internal, and regulatory requirements. * Support document control efforts for work instructions, procedures, and inspection criteria. Problem Solving & Corrective Actions * Assist in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities. * Participate in investigations related to internal and customer quality issues. * Support continuous improvement projects focused on defect reduction and process improvement. Supplier & Customer Support * Assist with supplier quality issues including incoming inspection and communication. * Support customer returns (RMA) and complaint investigations. * Prepare quality reports as needed to communicate inspection results and trends. Compliance & Quality Systems * Support adherence to ISO, AS, or customer-specific quality system requirements. * Participate in internal audits and audit preparation efforts when required. * Follow all safety and quality policies and procedures. Required Skills/Abilities: * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. * Proficiency with hand inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators). * Familiarity with GD&T and blueprint interpretation. * Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, quality software). * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. * Experience with CMM or advanced metrology equipment preferred. * Knowledge of ISO 9001 / AS9100 standards. Education and Experience: * High school diploma or equivalent. * 2 - 4 years of experience in quality inspection or manufacturing environment. * Experience in manufacturing, machining, or assembly operations. * Associate degree or technical certification in Quality, Engineering, or Manufacturing preferred. * Experience with CMM or advanced metrology equipment preferred. Qualifications: 1-2 years experience in a related field Working knowledge of Excel and Word. Ability to learn Access, Teams, OneNote and QAD. Familiarity with IATF16949 or other quality systems desirable. Manufacturing experience as a quality inspector or quality technician preferred. Able to perform basic mathematical calculations. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Spanish as a second language a plus. Ability to work in shop floor environment & be able lift 50 lbs.
