Job Description:
Position Summary: Responsible for the planning, execution and verification of the Quality activities in the Flightline phase, starting from the milestone FOT in the FAL to the final delivery to the customer. This includes the demonstration of aircraft system integrity, conformity in accordance to the design specification, and verification of ground test instruction (GTI).
Primary Responsibilities:
1. L3 Flightline Quality Avionic Inspector 50 %
* Release the aircraft for all ground and flight operations (Engine Run-up Inspections, Pre and Post flight checks under EASA Part 21G and after the transfer of title under FAA 14 CFR Part 145).
* Perform aircraft testing; evaluate results by documenting the tests performed and any discrepancies in the Airbus Log Book (ALB) of the aircraft.
* Quality inspection of standard and non-standard aircraft production and maintenance activities, including documentation.
* Support and perform troubleshooting (T/S) on aircraft avionic systems.
* Support improvement measures, Clarify problems with engineering, customers and suppliers.
* Ensure aircraft conformity as a Quality Inspector with final signature authorization.
2. FAL-GTE (Final Assembly Line - Ground Test Engineer) 40 %
* Delegation from flight test department (IVR): Perform aircraft ground checks after FOT. Prepare the aircraft and test environment for ground tests on all aircraft systems. Document any nonconformity in the Airbus Log Book (ALB) and request a repeat test instruction (RTI) after finalization of the rework. This qualification requires extensive training and will be initiated after the above mentioned Inspector qualification.
* Perform ground checks; static system tests, APU run, low and high power engine run, low speed taxi and compass swing in accordance with the Production Aircraft Test Manual (PATM).
3. FAA Part 145 Repair Station Inspector 5 %
* Perform aircraft testing; evaluate / document results of the tests performed and any discrepancies in the Part 145 Work Package of the aircraft.
* Support and perform troubleshooting (T/S) on aircraft avionic systems.
* Maintain Part 145 Work Package and perform Release to Service

**ABOUT THE ROLE**
The Quality Technician position provides a quality product to the customer by collecting samples and performing tests on raw materials, materials in process, finished products and competitive products located in Theodore, AL.
This is a rotating shift 530a-530p and 530p-530a and every other weekend.
**WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH**
+ Collects samples and performs accurate quality control testing to ensure product quality. Provides verbal and/or written test results to management and production staff in a timely manner. Assists manager with customer service issues as directed. Certifies results of laboratory findings.
+ Examines laboratory and/or core samples to determine their physical and chemical properties. Uses a variety of instruments and calculations to determine conformity. Performs various tests to make certain that samples meet required standards.
+ Records, analyzes, certifies and prepares summaries of findings. Maintains records of test results using various databases.
+ Assists with customer service issues as required. Troubleshoots to determine reason for problem or complaint.
+ Collects samples from various areas of the plant as required.
+ Provides leadership and/or guidance to less experienced Tech QC and/or Inspectors on more complex assignments. Coordinates work to ensure that repairs are completed in a timely manner and according in order of priority. May train new employees.
+ Communicates problems in operations, unwarranted deviations from established standards, and violations of policy or law.
+ Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma/GED required.
Required minimum of six months (6) months of experience as a Quality Trades Support II (QTS II) at Austal USA for internal candidates or two (2) years NDT Level II experience in a related field for external candidates.
Austal “A Class & B Class” employees may be considered in lieu of six (6) months as a Quality Trade Support II (QTS II). Candidate must possess two (2) years' maritime experience in their trade and have completed one (1) year at Austal and be able to become Level II certified Visual Testing (VT), within six (6) months of successful completion of formal classroom training required.

What You'll Do:
Ensure Quality Control. Conduct routine testing of in-process materials, raw materials, environmental samples, and finished materials to ensure quality control of products at the point of production, shipping, and arrival upon the job site. Candidate must possess two (2) years' maritime experience in their trade and have completed one (1) year at Austal and be able to become Level II certified Visual Testing (VT), within six (6) months of successful completion of formal classroom training required.

Willingness and ability to learn any new NDT methods and / or skills assigned by management.
