The Preproduction Engineer works closely with the Preproduction Manager during all phases of a production project. This position is responsible for basic electrical power, lighting, and low voltage installations. Provides support to field and shop personnel during the production and site construction process, translates the design intent to the field, may work on site as needed. Attends meetings and site visits as needed to document existing conditions. Creates and documents value engineering solutions, which include identifying various design solutions and quantifying specific cost elements that are affected. Assists and works with the assigned engineering team in the development of designs to meet project goals. Supports the collection of schedule and production data from preproduction, engineering, VDC, field, and production floor to support project control functions. Supports MEP coordination and managers the upfront setup of projects in various client platforms with other trade contractors. Supports construction as-built and documentation process. Performs other related duties as required and assigned. We are seeking an experienced Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Engineer to manage and optimize our digital delivery processes in the Advanced Manufacturing sector. This is site-based role with flexible home office location in the U.S. In this key role, you will provide VDC/BIM/Digital Delivery management and leadership by aligning technologies with internal and client goals and define digital delivery scope for project estimates, and coordinate project technical setup and model deliverables. As the VDC Lead, you will create and implement Design and Construction BIM Execution Plans for EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management); Integrate VDC tasks including 3D logistics and safety planning, 4D scheduling, 5D Cost and quantity take-offs; define, coordinate, administer and manage the use of the Common Data Environment (Autodesk Construction Cloud) from design to construction including Docs, Build, Coordination modules; kick-off, manage and track progress on Clash Detection for Design Teams and Trade Partners; lead clash resolution meetings; serve as BIM Subject Matter Expert on projects in design and construction; and coordinate laser scan data integration and facilitate Scan to BIM efforts. You will also manage model redline and as-built processes; verify construction install with model based practices; create project processes and lead mobile device trainings for field employees; lead and facilitate reality capture/for progress reporting and weekly reports for remote team members including 360 Photos, laser scans, drone data; and act as technology lead and offer in field technical troubleshooting, support for software, model viewing and mobile device applications. As the VDC Lead, you will be involved with stakeholder collaboration and act as the Digital Delivery and VDC stakeholder and lead on Design and Construction projects. You will consult during business development during proposals and estimates; collaborate with clients, representatives, and contractors; manage trade partner modeling efforts and quality through construction. In addition, you will support team development by developing training materials and offer technical guidance. You will recruit, manage, and mentor employees; and enhance team expertise through collaboration with subject matter experts. You will act as on-site management by providing daily on-site presence and leadership; coordinate VDC activities with field operations; and create, execute and own onsite VDC processes.
