Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience with mammalian cell culture, preferably with stem cells or cardiomyocytes.
Familiarity with flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, and basic molecular biology techniques.
Preferred:
Experience in iPSC culture and differentiation, especially in cardiovascular lineages.
Exposure to high-throughput screening platforms (IonOptix, Axion MEA).
Comfort with large-scale cell processing and cryopreservation techniques.
Knowledge of automation tools and liquid handling robotics is a plus.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $175,000 to $250,000. Great Gull Island (GGI), NY, is the breeding site for 35% of the federally endangered Roseate Terns (~2,300 pairs) breeding the northwest Atlantic population, and the second largest colony (~11,000 pairs) of Common Tern on the east coast of North America. The Rubega Lab in the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology department has a grant to enhance nesting habitat for terns on GGI and create a biosecurity plan to protect the colony from predatory mammals, disease, and invasive plant species. The Program Manager (ResearchAssistant 3) will supervise all aspects of this project.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizing and managing the logistics of a nesting habitat restoration project for Common and Roseate Terns breeding on Great Gull Island.
Implementing a Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) for all projects related to this habitat restoration project.
Ordering and supervising the transportation of supplies to the island.
Coordinating with the herbicide contractor and crew for twice-yearly application of herbicides to control invasive plant species on the island.
Coordinating and supervising volunteers conducting habitat enhancement on the island, including planting native plant plugs, installing nest boxes, and spreading pea gravel to enhance habitat over existing concrete structures.
Coordinating the removal of marine debris from the island.
Coordinating boat trips to Great Gull Island for contractors and crew members.
Supervising volunteer work crews on the island.
Supervising a staff of up to 3 habitat restoration technicians.
Writing annual reports summarizing habitat restoration efforts.
Enacting a biosecurity plan to protect terns nesting on the island from predatory mammals, disease, and new invasive plants.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Role Overview
As part of our humanitarian mission, MSF conducts hundreds of research studies every year to help us improve patient care and advocate in an evidence-based way for better global health programs and policies. The MSF Science Portal is an online repository where you can find the outcomes of this work-in peer-reviewed medical publications, MSF Scientific Days conference presentations, and other content.
The Research Publication Intern will work with the Project Manager on keeping the platform updated regularly and implement data quality improvements across the front end of the website within the content management system, and to the database directly. Primary, regular duties include data entry, data cleaning/manipulation, and descriptive analysis. The intern will also support other discrete, long-term projects that can range from website development support, dashboard development, research ethics support, and communications planning and support. A diverse student profile will be considered, with an emphasis on data visualization and management abilities, experience with relational databases, and knowledge of medical sciences and scholarly publications.
This internship will start by early March and will be a 3-month internship with the possibility of extension to 6 months total. This role is part-time at 20 hours/week and is hybrid, with in-office attendance on either Tuesdays or Wednesdays in either of our following offices (NYC, or Washington, DC).

The Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture, a part of the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources, within the University of Connecticut, Storrs Campus, seeks qualified applicants for the full-time position of Plant Science Research and Education Facility Turfgrass Research Technician (Laboratory Technician 1). Supervised by the Plant Science Research and Education Facility Manager and the Department Head, this position provides technical assistance to faculty and researchers in establishing and maintaining turfgrass for research, teaching, and outreach. Duties also include maintenance and repair of equipment associated with field and greenhouse projects as well as pesticide applications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Establish, maintain, and renovate turfgrass areas for research, teaching, and outreach activities.
* Prioritize cultural management of turfgrass research plots in consultation with researchers and farm manager. This includes mowing, irrigating, fertilizing, cultivating, and pest scouting.
* Prepare and apply pesticides as needed to manage weeds, insects, and diseases of turfgrasses in research fields and greenhouses.
* Identify turfgrass species and diagnose common weed, insect, and disease problems.
* Operate equipment, instrumentation, and related components including computer software and systems.
* Assist in maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing gas powered equipment.
* Calibrate field equipment to ensure accurate application of fertilizers and pesticides.
* Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of high-volume, in-ground irrigation system, and satellite controllers.
* Collect, compile, and distribute climate, soil conditions, and other data to researchers to inform experimental activity and turfgrass health management decisions.
* Assist with field laboratory procedures as needed, including establishing research trials, applying treatments, soil sampling, plant tissue harvest, and collecting quantitative and qualitative data to support faculty research.
* Maintain appropriate digital records and files related to the maintenance of research plot and pesticide applications.
* Conduct basic maintenance and repair skills for small-engines, specialized turfgrass, and landscape equipment including the precision adjustment and grinding of reel-mowers for fine-cut turfgrass.
* Assist faculty and researchers with teaching and outreach initiatives by preparing plant specimens, developing and presenting turfgrass instructional content for undergraduate and professional audiences, and providing logistical support for planning and delivering outreach events such as the UConn Turfgrass Field Day, the New England Regional Turfgrass Conference, and other programs.
* Provide supervision of hourly labor, students, and other support positions associated with the Turfgrass Science Program.
* Other related duties.

* Demonstrated experience with calibration, application, maintenance, and repair of sprayers and broadcast spreaders, and with computers and electronic record keeping.
* Current Connecticut Governmental Commercial Junior Operator Certification pesticide license or ability to acquire Certification within one month of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience operating and repairing high-volume in-ground irrigation systems.

APPOINTMENT TERMS
This is a full-time, twelve-month UCPEA staff position, and is designated as an ad-hoc emergency support services/essential position. As such, the candidate must be willing and able to work during closures/delayed openings due to inclement weather or for significant events that affect campus operations.
The standard workweek for this role is 35 hours, 7 hours per day (8:00 AM to 3:30 PM), Monday through Friday. However, this schedule may change to meet operational and staffing needs. This position is located at the Plant Science Research and Education Facility near the main University of Connecticut campus in Storrs, CT.
