The Implicit Beliefs and Unlimited Potential (IB-UP) Lab at the University of the District of Columbia, seeks to hire a ResearchAssistant (RA) with research interest in implicit theories of intelligence, faculty beliefs, learning contexts and the experiences, persistence and achievement of minoritized STEM students at HBCUs. The tentative appointment period for the position is January 2023 through May 2023.
The ResearchAssistant's primary contributions will be in assisting the Principal Investigator (PI) and Postdoctoral Scholar with study recruitment, survey and interview tool development, data collection (including classroom observations), supporting/mentoring Undergraduate ResearchAssistants, conducting qualitative and quantitative research analysis (including data checking, cleaning and coding), writing and submitting co-authored manuscripts for publication, supporting workshops and presenting the research to multiple stakeholders including at national conferences and through case studies and modules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct high quality research on Learning environments and Psychosocial factors that impact educational outcomes for minorities students.
Work closely with graduate and undergraduate students and contribute to joint projects.
Participate with recruitment and leading workshops.
Presents and publishes research findings at conferences and peer reviewed publications.
Prepares progress reports for funding sources.
Minimum Job Requirements
A bachelor's degree in psychology, or a related area is required by the time of appointment.
A demonstrated ability to work/collaborate with others and work independently.
Evidence of a strong commitment to support and uplift students from groups underrepresented in STEM.

Position Overview
As a research associate, you will develop the analytical rigor and market instincts necessary to become a leading voice in equity research. Under direct supervision from senior analysts who will likely have risen through the ranks at B. Riley Securities themselves, you will have the opportunity to master fundamental analysis, financial modeling, and investment thesis development.
Base salary range: $80,000-$100,000, depending on experience

Education & Experience
Must have a Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, healthcare, or related field. Undergrads not accepted
Demonstrated passion for public markets through investment club participation, personal investing, and/or relevant coursework.
One to four years of experience in equity research or general finance (preferred but not required).
CFA designation or active candidacy (preferred).
Technical Excellence
Superior analytical skills with deep understanding of financial and accounting principles.
Advanced proficiency in Excel financial modeling and PowerPoint presentations.
Experience with Bloomberg, Blue Matrix, and FactSet (preferred).

Job Description:
The School of Public Affairs at American University is seeking applications for a full-time research associate (who would be appointed at the rank of ResearchAssistant Professor) to begin in December 2025 or earlier, as possible. The Research Associate will to conduct rigorous and timely policy research and analyses to support the work of the Postsecondary Education & Economics Research (PEER) Center. The PEER Center, led by Professors Jordan Matsudaira at SPA and Stephanie Cellini at George Washington University, generates actionable research to promote more equitable outcomes in education beyond high school. The PEER Center also works to train higher education researchers to more effectively engage with and impact state and federal policy. PEER Center staff engage in rigorous research related to postsecondary costs and finance, accountability, value, and student success; and engage in efforts to connect this work directly to the policymaking process.
The Research Associate will engage in rapid-response analysis to inform timely state and federal policy development, as well as having the opportunity to engage in longer-term research. Candidates should have a master's degree or Ph.D. in economics, public policy, or a related field; at least three years of relevant work experience in federal and/or state higher education policy; and a successful track record of empirical analysis with demonstrated data skills. Familiarity with higher education and workforce data and research (including Stata and/or R), quantitative methods for policy analysis, and strong communication and writing skills are required. An understanding of key legislative and regulatory policy levers and applying academic research to policy problems are a plus.
There is no teaching associated with this position. This is a term faculty, non-tenure track position with the rank of ResearchAssistant Professor and the title of Research Associate. The initial appointment is for 12 months, and can be renewed annually. The salary range for the research associate position is $70,000-$110,000. The salary for this position will be wholly generated through externally funded research activities. We have a strong preference for candidates willing to work in Washington, D.C., though we will consider applications from qualified researchers located outside D.C.
