About the role
The Ishizuka Lab (Yale School of Medicine) is recruiting a post-graduate dry lab Research Associate to drive analysis and biological insights from multi-modal and single cell genomics data gathered from patient tumor immune samples and murine models. A portion of the role will also include support of the development and application of next-gen AI-enabled protein design approaches.
We are seeking, reliable, self-motivated and ambitious candidates who will be trusted to build reproducible analyses, produce interpretable results and communicate clearly with experimental and computational team members. Co-authorship is supported.
Commitment: We strongly prefer candidates who can commit to two consecutive one-year renewable terms (2 years total)
What you'll do:
Manage day-to-day sc RNA-seq analysis: QC, integration, clustering/annotation, differential analyses, etc
Build reproducible workflows (code structure, documentation, version control)
Generate publication-quality figures
Partner with wet-lab teammates to refine experimental design and translate findings into next steps
Help prototype/implement workflows that combine novel AI methods with evolutionary/sequence concepts
Present data and stories internally to the lab and externally as needed

Role Overview
As part of our humanitarian mission, MSF conducts hundreds of research studies every year to help us improve patient care and advocate in an evidence-based way for better global health programs and policies. The MSF Science Portal is an online repository where you can find the outcomes of this work-in peer-reviewed medical publications, MSF Scientific Days conference presentations, and other content.
The Research Publication Intern will work with the Project Manager on keeping the platform updated regularly and implement data quality improvements across the front end of the website within the content management system, and to the database directly. Primary, regular duties include data entry, data cleaning/manipulation, and descriptive analysis. The intern will also support other discrete, long-term projects that can range from website development support, dashboard development, research ethics support, and communications planning and support. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking highly motivated and creative applicants who can lead a project on Misophonia, a psychological and behavioral disorder in which individuals experience adverse emotional reactions to specific sounds (“auditory triggers”). The broad project goal is to develop computational models of hearing and perception that are fitted to human perceptual measurements and that can be used to characterize and diagnose misophonia. The models will also be used to develop sound processing tools to remove and de-emphasize auditory triggers (e.g., with headphones) and improve participant outcomes. The project will use a variety of approaches, including human perceptual experiments, machine learning, digital signal processing, and computational models of hearing.
UConn has a vibrant neuroscience community, and there are opportunities for collaboration between departments, institutes, and Universities involved in the project. The primary appointment is in Biomedical Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering. The work will be conducted in collaboration with the Behavioral Neuroscience program in the Psychological Sciences department (Ian Stevenson), the Electrical and Computer Engineering/Biomedical Engineering departments at the University of Connecticut (Monty Escabí), and the Connecticut Institute for Brain and Cognitive Sciences.

* Knowledge and experience in growing and maintaining high-quality turfgrass areas such as sports fields, golf courses, or residential and commercial properties, or field research plots.
* Experience in Integrated Pest Management for control of turfgrass pests.
* Experience identifying turfgrass species and diagnose common weed, insect, and disease problems.
* Demonstrated experience with calibration, application, maintenance, and repair of sprayers and broadcast spreaders, and with computers and electronic record keeping.
* Current Connecticut Governmental Commercial Junior Operator Certification pesticide license or ability to acquire Certification within one month of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience operating and repairing high-volume in-ground irrigation systems.
* Experience using instruments such as TDR probes or visual symptoms to scout turf for moisture stress or disease, weed, and insect incidence.
* Experience with specialized turfgrass equipment operation and maintenance including reel-mowers and reel grinding equipment.
* Supervisory or leadership experience.
APPOINTMENT TERMS
This is a full-time, twelve-month UCPEA staff position, and is designated as an ad-hoc emergency support services/essential position. As such, the candidate must be willing and able to work during closures/delayed openings due to inclement weather or for significant events that affect campus operations.
The standard workweek for this role is 35 hours, 7 hours per day (8:00 AM to 3:30 PM), Monday through Friday. However, this schedule may change to meet operational and staffing needs. This position is located at the Plant Science Research and Education Facility near the main University of Connecticut campus in Storrs, CT.

The position is completely research-focused with the goal to produce academic research that will lead to publication in high-quality real estate (e.g., Journal of Urban Economics, Real Estate Economics, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics) or related journals (e.g., Journal of Regional Science, Regional Science and Urban Economics).
