This position is a joint recruiting effort between the Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics, the Darby Children's Research Institute, the Hollings Cancer Center, and the Integrated Center for Cellular Therapy at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, South Carolina. We are searching for a physician scientist studying immune-based approaches for the treatment of childhood cancers, with particular interest in CAR T or other cell therapies. However, other immunological research areas, such as the role of immune cells in the tumor microenvironment, mechanisms of immune suppression, and the development of novel immunotherapies will be considered.
MUSC Minimum Requirements:

The Asphalt Binder Research Specialist is a key member of Ingevity's Pavement Technologies team, supporting both research and development and technical services.
This role is responsible for testing and characterizing asphalt binders and additives to support innovation, commercialization, customer applications, and quality control. The researcher will conduct physical and chemical testing using industry standards (AASHTO, ASTM), advanced instrumentation, and manual methods to generate meaningful data and ensure product performance.

Key Responsibilities:
* Perform asphalt binder testing according to AASHTO, ASTM, and project-specific specifications (e.g., DSR, BBR, RV, RTFOT, PAV).
* Accurately prepare and condition asphalt binder samples.

* Record, analyze, and report test results in a clear and timely manner.

This position is part of the Laboratory Support Unit in the School of Science, Engineering and Mathematics. The position is located at a main CSN campus (West Charleston, North Las Vegas, or Henderson); however, multi-campus travel may be required. Position requires experience/knowledge and skill in basic physical, chemical, or biological laboratory practices. Position priority tasks are the preparation and breakdown of equipment and supplies for science laboratory classroom instruction. Responsibilities can include working with various equipment, analytical instruments, chemicals and/or biological materials, and the proper handling, storage, and disposal of equipment, various hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals, and biological materials in accordance with appropriate regulations/procedures. In addition, the position requires replenishing, tracking, and maintaining inventory of supplies as well as maintaining clean, safe, and organized laboratory areas. This is an in-person, on-site, position with no remote work component.
Common tasks include, but are not limited to:
* Working in a laboratory environment to prepare laboratory materials and equipment necessary for instructional laboratories or classes taught in the School of Science, Engineering, & Mathematics.

Compensation:

Responsibilities:
Conducts safe and appropriate aseptic and sterile field techniques
Assist the Coordinator in monitoring subject flow and assist in subject care and management
Observe, assist, collect, and record all necessary data for follow-up (e.g., adverse events, concomitant medications, etc.) study visits (Phase 2 & 3; NO Gene Therapy)
Ensure that the treatment room is fully stocked with ancillary supplies ahead of each day
Explain treatment processes and procedures to study subjects
Set up, prepare subject, and assist in the administration of treatment on subjects as required per study protocol and pharmacy/procedure manual
Promptly report treatment-related Adverse Events (to include medication errors) to an appropriate unmasked RA (level II/III preferred)
Assist in the collection of aqueous humor samples for analysis
Perform intraocular pressure checks after injections
Perform post-treatment procedures (finger count, hand motion, light perception)
Document post-injection evaluation per protocol by the treating investigator
Monitor on-site temperature for all equipment and document daily logs (if applicable)
Daily calibration of tonopens
Perform other duties as assigned
Obtain any applicable additional/required sponsor training and/or certifications
Ensure all instruments used by the UM team are accounted for and properly sterilized

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Water Quality Lab Manager to lead our growing laboratory in analyzing and monitoring the waters of the Lowcountry. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the laboratory operations, including managing personnel, conducting analyses, maintaining equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to research projects.
Responsibilities:
* Direct and manage the Water Quality Lab to analyze and monitor various water parameters, including total nitrogen, phosphorus, fecal coliform, enterococci, suspended solids, biological oxygen demand, and in-situ measurements such as temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, pH, and turbidity.
* Identify, purchase, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies necessary for water quality analyses.
* Obtain and maintain State of South Carolina DHEC certification for the lab and all water quality parameters.
* Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory analyses and operations.
* Maintain written manuals for sample receipt, storage, documentation, and processing procedures.

Understanding of both the theoretical and technical aspects of the operation and maintenance of a Stable Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer and Elemental Analyzer, and ICP-Atomic Emission Spectrometer is also preferred.

A postdoctoral research opportunity is available with Clemson University to conduct research on abiotic and biotic stresses affecting cucurbit crops. The selected applicant will conduct research primarily on biotic factors (e.g., viral and fungal diseases) on cucurbit crops including squashes, cucumber and watermelon. Research assignment will include phenotyping cucurbit and watermelon germplasm for tolerance to biotic factors, selecting appropriate genotypes or single plants with resistance and advancing them to develop homozygous lines, identifying QTL regions and developing molecular markers, determining genes being up or down regulated during host-pathogen interactions. Other research projects can include research on diseases of cucurbits including studies to understand inheritance of host resistance to biotic and abiotic stress, genetic mapping, marker development, differential gene expression during disease development on susceptible and resistant cucurbit genotypes etc. Cucurbit crops that the laboratory primarily works on include watermelon, cucumber, melon, and various gourds.
The appointment is full-time for one year and may be renewed for an additional year contingent upon performance and availability of funding. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance. Funds will also be available to travel to one national and one division meeting. Funding is not available for relocation expenses.
Required qualifications
• Ph.D. degree in Horticulture, Genetics, Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, Plant Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field.
• Knowledge and experience in phenotyping plants for resistance to biotic and / or abiotic stress
• Knowledge and experience with Next Generation Sequencing and utilizing data to identify QTL regions and develop molecular markers for use in breeding programs.
