Job Description
Overnight Direct Care Staff for Children are responsible for providing direct care and support to meet the nighttime needs of children, ages 5-17, at New Horizons - Audrey Grace House, a home for children in Abilene, Texas.
Job Responsibilities
You will plan, supervise, and assist your assigned group of children with nighttime needs. This can include helping children get ready for bed, attending to their nightly needs, taking care of household chores as needed, getting children up and ready in the morning, and occasionally transporting children to school in company-provided vans.
Pay Rate: $16-$18 an hr based on experience
Hours: 40 Hours minimum per week - 8:30 pm - 8:30 am

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Providing overnight direct supervision and support to a group of kids, many of whom are experiencing emotional trauma

This position is responsible for carrying a caseload of adults and for providing Rehab Case Management services within Levels of Care 1, 2 and 3 for adults within the Texas Resiliency and Recovery model of treatment. This position requires intervention and frequent in-person, long-term contact with individuals, families, and service providers. This position requires the ability to: identify problem/need areas; work under pressure and stressful situations in a professional manner; be thorough in assessment and documentation; locate and utilize a variety of community resources to meet the needs of each individual; assist in negotiating and advocating for each individual with service entities outside the Center; and develop a positive relationship with each consumer and their LAR where applicable. This position is responsible for direct assessment of the consumer's living environment and for providing spontaneous assistance as needs arise. This position provides a basic level of rehabilitative services addressing daily and independent living skills such as opportunities to acquire and improve skills for problem solving, accessing services and community resources, obtaining and maintaining safe, affordable housing, communicating effectively, appropriate socialization, and developing a natural support system. This position may require the use of a private vehicle for job duties/responsibilities. This position must maintain monthly performance targets. Duties are performed under the supervision of the Mental Health Program Administrator, with some latitude for the exercise of independent judgment.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social, behavioral, or human services (PREFER DEGREE IN SOCIAL WORK). Prefer one year of full-time work experience in the human services field, preferably including case management experience.
• Must qualify as a QMHP-CS under the new Medicaid guidelines.
• Requires work or volunteer experience or expertise in one or more of the following areas: employment acquisition, housing, budgeting, community resource acquisition, etc. and the ability to communicate that knowledge to others.
• Must possess a current Texas driver's license and qualify for Center coverage. Driving is an essential function and employees must maintain an acceptable driving record/insurability while employed.
• Must have an insured personal vehicle to be used for Center duties/responsibilities.
Hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm, flexible.
This is a Full-Time position. Benefits are available.

* Always practices Active Supervision.
* Implements Conscious Discipline strategies whenever possible.
* PARENT INVOLVEMENT
* Facilitates communication between parent, teacher, program and ISD specialists, and ESC Consultants.
* Assists with transportation to the Policy Council when necessary.
* Assists ESC staff by following up on family requests for GED, ESL, and college information.
* Meets with parents to evaluate family needs and complete Family Partnership Agreement.
* Tracks goals set and progress towards meeting these family goals.
* Assist with parent meetings.
* HEALTH & NUTRITION
* Works in collaboration with ESC Head Start staff and classroom staff in providing advocacy, transportation, and assessment of needs of Head Start children and families for medical, dental, nutrition, social services, and other health services as needed.
* Assists families in scheduling medical and dental screening exams and follow up appointments for Head Start children within the required timeframe.
* Works in collaboration with ESC Head Start staff and parents to schedule disabilities and or mental wellness appointments for children as needed.
* Assists school nurse with the screening of Head Start children in height, weight, vision, hearing, and hemoglobin within the required timeframe.
* Maintains appropriate documentation and mails required forms to ESC Head Start office.
* PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
* Attends staff trainings as required, including vision and hearing certification, first aid/CPR/AED for infants and toddlers.
* Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities.
* Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance.
