Job Description
The Youth and Family Support Specialist Coordinator will be responsible for leading and engaging group activities, fostering personal growth, and building relationships within the community. This position requires astrong commitment to youth and family development, excellent communication skills, and a passion for creating positive change. Key Responsibilities: Group Facilitations: Plan and implement age-appropriate group activities that promote leadership, teamwork, and personal development. Create a safe and inclusive environment where young people feel values and supported. Facilitate discussions on relevant topics such as mental health, substance abuse prevention and conflict resolution Responsible for leading engaging group activities, fostering personal growth, and building relationships within the community. Family literacy: Supporting families in developing early literacy skills and creating home learning environments. Youth development: Focusing on promoting positive youth development through mentoring, tutoring, and life skills training. Juvenile justice: Working with youth involved in the juvenile justice system, providing re-entry support and prevention services. Case management: Assessing needs, developing support plans, and connectingfamilies to appropriate resources. Counseling and mentoring: Offering emotional support, guidance, and life skills development. Crisis intervention: Responding to immediate crises and providing necessary support. Outreach and engagement: Building relationships with families and the community, promoting programs and services. Collaboration: Working with other agencies and professionals to coordinate services and ensure comprehensive support. Advocacy: Representing the needs of youth and families to policymakers and other stakeholders.
Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate records of group attendance, activities, and participant progress. Prepare reports and documentation as required. Assist with program planning and evaluation.
Qualifications and education Requirements: Bachelors Degree or equivalency in social work, psychology, or a related field is often preferred Passion for working with young people and a strong belief in their potential Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to create engaging and interactive group activities. Strong organizational and time management skills. Experience in group facilitation and youth development preferred Must pass all Department of Child Services required background checks Commitment to the mission and values of our organization
