About the Role:
We're looking for a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety professional to lead our plant's safety initiatives. In this role, you'll provide leadership, direction, and expertise to ensure compliance with OSHA and local regulations while driving best practices to improve operations. You'll be the go-to expert for all things health and safety, making a tangible difference in the lives of our employees and the success of our plant.
Responsibilities
Plan, develop and coordinate all health and safety training and audits for employees
Responsible for interpretation of and compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulatory requirements relating to health and safety issues as well as interfacing with same during inspections and investigations
Collaborate with Plant HR to manage Workers Compensation cases/issues regarding employees, third party administrators, state agency requirements, company attorneys and management; submit timely documentation/reports as required
Monitor and ensure accident/incident investigations completed and appropriate follow-up/corrective actions implemented
Provide health and safety guidance as well as monthly, semi-annual and annual performance statistics/ metrics to management
Responsible for record keeping of training and workers compensation medical, audits and compliance documents
Responsible for maintaining up-to-date written health and safety programs
Complete occupational safety and health reporting required by federal and state regulatory requirements
Assist Knauf Environmental team as needed to ensure environmental compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Maintain Knauf's compliance with Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) records by initiating the review process for all new chemicals coming into plants; arrange data entry and audit systems to maintain records
Monitor Knauf's compliance with federal and state regulations regarding plant activities
Notify state agencies as required of any health and safety events or non-compliances
Drive the highest levels of employee retention and engagement to ensure a sustainable workforce.
Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the organization.
Instill an environment of inclusion, where all employees feel that they can contribute and impact the company in a positive manner.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in health and safety or related field preferred
Experience:
Minimum three (3) years of experience working with occupational health and safety regulatory issues
Minimum five (5) years of experience in an industrial manufacturing facility
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of industrial hygiene and safety, occupational health and hazard communication
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and requirements
Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo

This full-time salary-exempt role is a part of our Health and Safety team and reports to the Director of Health and Safety.
Required experience:
* Bachelor's degree in industrial/occupational safety, environmental science or a safety or environmental related field. Master's degree in a related field preferred
* Minimum eight (8) or more years of professional EH&S experience, with two (2) or more years' management experience in a similar role within a corporate environment
* Demonstrated proficiency in several environmental, health and safety processes and practices, (ergonomics, ISO 14001, etc.)

What You'll Do as a Safety Specialist
As a Safety Specialist at Lewis Services, you'll:
