The position is responsible for leading all plant level Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) activities. The Plant EHS Manager is empowered to eliminate accidents, injuries, and property loss through effective problem solving and management of countermeasures. This role will continuously communicate a positive message and a course of action to be taken through BBSO and GEMBA process along with all other methods of engagement.
EHS Manager Specific Responsibilities:
Develop and implement actions to facilitate a strong safety culture through skilled support and employee engagement
Provide input and subject matter expertise on strategic processes, tools, and techniques to enhance overall safety performance
Collaborate with facility management to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement
Routinely inspecting the facility, machinery, workstations, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards while ensuring safety regulation compliance
Routinely monitor the workforce to ensure safe behaviors and providing coaching for improvement
Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of hazard management systems, policies, and procedures with recommended changes that reflect opportunities to eliminate workplace injuries
Conduct inspections and assessments to evaluate the facility's compliance with all federal, state, local and company standards
Support local regulatory compliance to include, but not limited to: SWPPP, SPCC, EPCRA, and RCRA
Support all audits and inspections and development of corrective measures
Develop and deliver required training for safety and environmental programs
Lead facility incident investigations, analyze and review near-misses and accidents to ensure proper corrective and preventative measures have been implemented
Analyze/interpret facility safety metrics to proactively target and eliminate injuries, reduce injury rates and achieve positive outcomes through development and execution of corrective actions and strategic plans
Drive processes within the plant, including JHA, PPE and assessments, behavioral based safety observations and ergonomics
Prepare, maintain, and submit environmental records and reports required by the company and regulatory agencies
Compile, analyze, and communicate metrics and KPIs via monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
Oversee and lead shift safety coordinators, ERT/First Responder Team, Haz Response Teams, and Safety Committee
Study ergonomic issues and recommend corrective actions
EHS Manager Requirements:
Bachelor Degree required in EHS discipline or related science or engineering with eight (8) or more years experience in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, or progress to completing similar certifications.
In-depth knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations at local, state, and federal levels.
Proven ability to be proactively facilitate change through education and training.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral and ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
Problem analysis and problem resolution with an understanding of root cause investigative process.

The Safety Manager is a visible leadership and development role. This individual is responsible for supporting the safety, security, and facility maintenance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety
• HSE Policies and Procedures
• Responsible for the overall safety and security of assigned facility, operations, and staff for the site.
• Maintain positive IFR statistics and other safety metrics for assigned location/operations.
• Must ensure compliance with the standards outlined in the DSV Safety Programs Policies and Procedures and the related site and client specific Standard Operation Procedures. This includes the qualification of adequate resources, and the implementation of all necessary systems including appropriate daily management systems, annual assessments, and reporting of results internally and externally.
• Establish HSE goals that are consistent with corporate polices and aligned with the corporate and site vision.
• Ensure adequately trained skilled HSE resources are in place, and actively support needed HSE activity to hold the facility accountable.
• Implement effective systems to comply with all applicable HSE laws and regulations. This includes knowing all applicable legal requirements, having a process to meet each requirement, and having adequate data that demonstrates in-compliance performance.
• Communicate site HSE goals, action plans, and results to the organization. Implement an effective system to drive positive HSE results, update HSE KPI scores and action plans regularly, and issue all required HSE data on time and accurately and maintain an up-to-date facility HSE performance profile.
• Review and develop HSE policies and procedures on an annual basis in keeping with best practices and ensure all training is completed in a timely manner.
• Consult with senior managers and other operation managers and give advice on formulating best-practice policies and procedures.
• Keep staff and leadership abreast of any changes in HSE Legislation and changes in DSV Corporate HSE related processes.
Risk Assessment
• Devise, develop and monitor effective Risk Assessment management strategies and implementation.
• Ensure appropriate HSE risk assessments are completed by an appropriately trained or qualified person.
Monitoring Performance (Documentation, Tracking, Statistics and Reporting)
• Propose, implement and monitor measures necessary to comply with HSE Regulations.

• Investigate or arrange for all accidents and near-misses be investigated, prepare report of finds, including recommendations to prevent recurrence and implement approved course of action. Where necessary prepare reports to the enforcing authority and DSV Corporate Safety Department as required.

• Ensure the implementation of the Emergency Management System (EMS) procedures and monitor its effectiveness by undertaking fire evacuation and severe weather drills at the facility at least once a year.
• Liaison between management and staff on all matters relating to HSE to ensure consistent application and understanding of policies and procedures.

* 1-3 years of work experience in performing construction job site safety inspections and conducting special studies and investigations related to safety and health for the company
* OSHA training certification required.
* Ability to travel to job sites throughout North America as required. Travel is estimated to be 75%+, unless stationed on a jobsite (first 3 months of employment - training).
* Proficient in MS Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
* Sound judgment and independent decision making required.
* Self-starter, strong interpersonal skills required, and excellent written and verbal communication skills
Physical Requirements
* Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and prolonged periods of standing and walking around project site with uneven surfaces.
* Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
* Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
* Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
* Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
