1822

When Mexico won its independence from Spain in 1822, California became part of Mexico.

1872

The famed Stearns Wharf is the oldest working wharf in California, built in 1872 by John Peck Stearns.

1925

In the early morning hours of June 29, 1925, a major earthquake, destroyed much of the downtown State Street corridor.

Spanish settlers gave the city its distinct architectural style in the form of Old Mission Santa Barbara and what is now the County Courthouse — a style that was carried forward by local visionaries after a massive earthquake destroyed much of the area’s infrastructure in 1925.

1967

In response to the development of the region’s first regional mall, La Cumbre Plaza, downtown businesses organized as the Downtown Organization of Santa Barbara in 1967.

1969

Santa Barbara continued to make notable history into modern times when it established the world’s very first official Earth Day celebration in 1969.

1978

Eric takes pride at having been a Goleta resident since 1978.

1981

Eric and Kelly Onnen were married in 1981 and were living in Goleta, California.

1983

On April 4, 1983, they began operating a daily shuttle service between LAX and Santa Barbara.

Founding partner of SBA. Mark has been with Santa Barbara Airbus since its inception in 1983.

2010

Eric has served on the Goleta City Council and Planning Commission in addition to serving as the Mayor of Goleta in 2010.

2018

To further expand upon these efforts, a new outreach program, #airbuscares, is being launched in 2018.

2020

She currently serves on the Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital board, a 2020 Alumni of the Katherine Harvey Fellows Program, and a former Junior League of Santa Barbara member.
