Must be at least 18 years of age.

Our Security Staff are a necessary component of our ability to provide a safe, comfortable environment for shelter guests, staff and volunteers.
Shifts are available at both (Men/Women) shelters. Shifts for this position are 4-10:30pm, 4pm-12am and 11:30pm-9am seven days a week. (Shift differential for overnight shifts) Minimum of one shift per week.
The essential functions of Security Staff include:
Performing checks of guests and their belongings as they present to shelter.
Screening guests for self-care. We do not require our guests to be completely sober to stay with us. However, they are expected to be able to take care of themselves: walk without staggering, clean up after themselves, be respectful, etc. It is security staff's responsibility to determine whether a guest can do so before allowing the guest entry.
Performing routine checks of the shelter and shelter grounds.
Monitoring guest behavior. Recognizing and deescalating potentially threatening situations.
Communicating guest issues to the Shift Lead.
Writing clear and descriptive notes regarding guest issues.
Engaging and building rapport with shelter guests.
Completing other tasks as needed.

What You'll Do:

While at your assigned institution and at CTC (or local training site if applicable), lunch will be provided. If a candidate's home address or assigned facility, whichever is closer, is 45 miles or more from the academy location they may be eligible for overnight accommodations both the night prior and nights between training. Candidates that qualify for lodging will automatically have lodging arranged by CTC.
