Duties
During the course of their careers, Uniformed Division Officers carry out assignments in protection. Duties include:
Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.

Qualifications and Experience
Experience in a security role, ideally within a public or library setting.
Knowledge and experience in security procedures, emergency safety practices, and de-escalation techniques.
Ability to evaluate and assess level of safety and stabilize a crisis situation.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing time and tasks effectively with minimal guidance.
Proficiency with library technology and communication tools, including MS Office Suite, Google Workspace, and cloud-based tools such as Google Chat and Zoom.
Understanding of general library philosophy, including the Library Bill of Rights, and the ability to apply this knowledge in daily responsibilities.
Familiarity with mental health first aid and trauma-informed care is preferred including the ability to listen and empathize with patrons in crisis and help connect with family, friends or community resources.
