MTC SecuritySpecialist (Part-time 28 hrs/wk)
The Brigham Young University Security Department is dedicated to maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This is achieved through collaboration with university administration, risk and emergency management, law enforcement, Title IX, CAPS, events, and housing. Security supports the campus community by promoting personal safety, crime prevention, hazard mitigation, respectful interactions, and ongoing staff development.
The SecuritySpecialist's main role is to protect life and property while supporting all security operations. Responsibilities include patrolling, staffing security booths, following protocols, maintaining vehicles and equipment, reviewing reports, and ensuring timely communication up the chain of command.
SecuritySpecialists work in varied environments, both indoors and outdoors, and may face long hours, loud noise, extreme weather, and hazardous conditions. They may respond to emergencies such as crowd control, traffic incidents, chemical spills, and medical calls, often as first responders.
What you'll do in this position:
Patrol and inspect buildings
Enforce University security policies
Identify suspicious and criminal behavior and coordinate with BYU Police for resolution
Assist sworn officers upon request
Assist with security-related calls for service
Initiate coordination of emergency response
Monitor and run electronic and physical security systems
Supervisory duties of student security guards and related tasks
Other duties as assigned
What qualifies you for this role:
Required:

Maintain training requirements each year.
Possession of Utah Driver License without record of suspension or revocation in any state.
Possess or obtain soon after employment a Utah Concealed Carry Permit issued by the Utah Department of Public Safety.
Must be able to work in all weather conditions, generally working shifts up to 9 hours long with longer hours possible as required for department needs; rotating shifts, graveyards, afternoons, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
Must pass thorough background investigation.
Must have no convictions for serious criminal, traffic, drug, or domestic violence violations.
Be proficient in the use of handgun, at the level to be able to pass the Department Qualification Standards; and to maintain this Standard of Qualification throughout time of employment.
Be proficient in hand-held radio use & communication, taser, handcuffs, tourniquet, first aid equipment, and computer software related to this position.
Must maintain the department fitness standards and be subject to mandatory physical fitness testing.
Must be trained and skilled in defense control tactics.
Must have a working knowledge of federal, state, and local criminal laws and procedures to include search, seizure, citizen's arrest, and use of force.
Must be familiar with their area of responsibility.
Ability to supervise and mentor student employees.
Understanding of crime prevention theory and application.

Job Description
***SHIFT AVAILABLE - 2PM-10PM,weekends and holidays required***
As the Safety & Security Supervisor, you will direct and coordinate the activities of the Security Officers actively engaged in the execution of the CFI, Inc. security programs under the direction of Director of Security and or General Manager.
As the Security Supervisor, you will:
Ensure daily procedures and responsibilities for Security personnel are followed.
Supervise security officers.
Direct and/or conduct internal criminal and civil investigations and act as a liaison to Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Personnel.
Management of government mandated safety and security programs, (such as blood borne pathogen and hazardous communications training).
Must be able to interact and assist guests. Provide outstanding customer service to guest and resort visitors.
Understand and be responsive to the flexible needs of all Departments. Interact with the various departments to resolve issues.
Must be able to perform the following functions on the computer: type incident reports, effectively read and respond to email from other departments and guests, research safety standards and procedures, maintain security systems, maintain electronic key control.
Ensure subordinates perform their duties in accordance with corporate policies and state law regulating the activities of the security officers.
Supervise and or conduct incident investigations as required by policy using the computer. Respond to critical incidents and assume control of incident scene including fire alarms.
Oversee operation and maintenance of security systems, electronic lock security and key control access systems using the computer.
Write detailed and accurate reports in a timely fashion for daily review meetings using the computer. Understand incident reports, documenting crimes, internal investigations and any other report as required.
Responsible for resort surveillance (vehicle/foot/video), including pools and storage lots.
Coordinate and supervise special event security.
Perform the duties of subordinate officers as required. Perform the duties of Security and Safety Director as required.
Attend and participate in operational, staff, safety committee, and risk management meetings as directed.
Ensure Westgate Disaster Plans, Emergency procedures and Standard Operating Procedures are followed.
Qualifications
Punctual and reliable.
Ability to use a computer.
Security experience preferred.
Requirements:
Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, walk and lift up to 50lbs.
Must be able to listen to the tasks at hand..
Must be able to stand and be mobile for many hours at a time.
Must be over 21 years old.
Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

* Control access to designated facilities, sensitive areas, and classified information based on established security protocols and clearance levels.
* Verify personnel identification and clearances to ensure only authorized individuals are granted entry.
