The Director of Engineering would oversee the engineering department and be responsible for assisting with daily production challenges, driving continuous improvement activities, new product introductions and assisting to implement or improve existing systems to increase the maturity of our operation under current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) conditions. Responsibilities:
The Director of Engineering will work closely with all departments within the organization to be successful. This position reports to the General Manager with 5-10 direct reports.
In this role you will:
Prioritize safety over all else and ensure that our processes are inherently safe
Transfer the production of new products from R&D into manufacturing. Design, develop, and test processes and equipment for production
Manage outside resources providing new processes and equipment
Translate high level project goals into a comprehensive set of working requirements working with both internal and external project stakeholders.
Responsible for improving yield and efficiency at the cell and plant level
Identify, resource and manage opportunities for continuous improvement through use of tools such as PFMEA's
Drive day to day project activity to achieve results including solving technical and other project challenges, managing resource conflicts, breaking down barriers, upholding high performance standards, and meeting commitments
Provide input on strategic direction of the group specifically around technology, capability and capital equipment
Continuously monitor and support manufacturing processes to optimize production flow, improve assembly methods including product quality, and expand capacity
Manage product master data, engineering change requests and change orders (ECR/ECO) in our PLM system
Ensure compliance with our quality management system, especially relating to change management whether driven through continuous improvement activities or required changes
Interface with customers and manages the relationship to ensure crisp communication and alignment of objectives
Provide both high level technical and people leadership to project teams
Identify areas of cost reduction and manage the implementation of these types of programs
Requirements:
BS or MS in mechanical engineering with 10-15 years' experience in a cGMP environment or equivalent
Minimum Eight (8) years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, two (2) of which must be direct EngineeringManagement experience, preferably in a regulated environment.
Direct experience with complex electromechanical products with embedded software.
Knowledge of production practices and procedures in a cGMP environment.
Analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex problems and determine root causes.
Must have experience successfully managing projects from initial concept through design and release. Including the ability to execute and mentor others on scheduling, budget and utilization of project resources.
Working knowledge of product and process qualifications including IQ, OQ, and PQ.
Practical experience with continuous improvement and problem-solving tools.
Knowledge of statistics and probability
Demonstrated proficiency in supervision and motivating team members.
Proven logic and decision making abilities, critical thinking skills.
Exceptional project management and communication skills - written and verbal - are essential
High energy, drive, commitment, self-initiative and perseverance are required with a demonstrated track record of personal technical accomplishments.
Medical device manufacturing experience preferred.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

This team is building segmented firewalling directly in the data plane-a first-of-its-kind innovation not available elsewhere in the industry. Engineers on this team get end-to-end ownership of packet processing systems, deep exposure to DPUs (AMD), NPUs, and P4, and the opportunity to shape foundational architecture in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.

**Your Impact**
In this role, you will design, build, and optimize the data plane for Cisco Hypershield using C++, P4, and hardware offload technologies such as DPUs and NPUs. You'll work hands-on with AMD DPU specifications, packet processing pipelines, and performance-critical components from day one.
Success in this role means operating in a fast-paced model-quickly absorbing the architecture, contributing to data-plane development immediately, and delivering reliable, high-performance code with minimal hand-holding.

Join the core Hypershield Data Plane team within Cisco's Security Business Group-an industry-first effort redefining how modern distributed security is built. We are engineering the data path for a highly available, AI-designed security fabric that protects applications across public clouds, private data centers, and physical environments.
This team is building segmented firewalling directly in the data plane-a first-of-its-kind innovation not available elsewhere in the industry. Engineers on this team get end-to-end ownership of packet processing systems, deep exposure to DPUs (AMD), NPUs, and P4, and the opportunity to shape foundational architecture in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.

Your Impact
In this role, you will design, build, and optimize the data plane for Cisco Hypershield using C++, P4, and hardware offload technologies such as DPUs and NPUs. You'll work hands-on with AMD DPU specifications, packet processing pipelines, and performance-critical components from day one.
Success in this role means operating in a fast-paced model-quickly absorbing the architecture, contributing to data-plane development immediately, and delivering reliable, high-performance code with minimal hand-holding.
You will:
* Design and implement data-plane features using P4, microcode, and C++ across DPU/NPU architectures.
* Bring up hardware platforms, integrate SDKs, and debug low-level packet-processing behavior.
* Work from AMD technical specifications to define and build performant pipelines.
* Collaborate closely with internal teams (control plane, management plane, platform) to deliver end-to-end datapath functionality.
* Drive system-level architecture discussions and influence design choices for high-throughput and low-latency packet processing.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
* 7+ years of experience in packet processing (e.g., DPDK, TCP reassembly, high-throughput pipelines).
* Programming experience in C/C++ and experience with P4 or microcode/U-code development.
* Experience bringing up platforms or ASICs in Linux-based environments.
* Hands-on experience building or leveraging hardware acceleration with DPUs or NPUs.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working with AMD DPUs, Broadcom, Marvell, or Intel data-path hardware.
* Deep understanding of P4 compiler behavior, pipeline stages, and programmable switch architecture.
