SHALOM Ministries company history timeline

1995

The first worship held at the Berkeley campus was on January 1, 1995.

1998

Pastor Clark was elected and installed as Vice President of American Baptist Churches of Great Rivers Region in 1998.

1999

November 20, 1999, Reverend Derrick Perkins, Sr.

Because of the growth of Shalom Church in 1999 Shalom began to have three worship services at the Berkeley Campus.

2000

In April of 2000 it was obvious that Shalom Church had to seek expansion or build an edifice to accommodate the growth, classes and ministry.

On May 5, 2000, Pastor Perkins was bestowed the Honorary Doctoral Degree from the United Church College, Goldsboro, North Carolina, with the now distinctive epithet–Reverend Doctor Derrick Perkins, Sr.

2002

As the year 2002 began with “divine spiritual visions” from the Heavenly Father, Pastor Perkins presented the church theme, “Making Disciples For The Kingdom Of God” with the emphasis Scripture Luke 10:1-2.

2003

Although groundbreaking had taken place in June of 2003, Shalom Church was growing in rapid numbers, and the Berkeley Campus could not accommodate the amount of traffic on a weekly bases.

2004

Shalom Church began holding 2 worship services at Hazelwood Central High School Auditorium in July of 2004 as well as one worship service at the Berkeley Campus.

For the New Year 2004, Reverend Doctor Perkins presented the church wide-theme, “Moving to the Next Level in Evangelism,” with the emphasis Scripture Luke 14: 16-24.

2005

Unity Day was celebrated on July 17, 2005 with guest minister Reverend Dwight O. Steele, Sr. and Pilgrim Baptist Church of Roanoke, Virginia.

Missionary Patricia Johnson requested sign up for the new Homework Assistance Program that began in September 2005 under her leadership.

2006

Frankie Muse Freeman as the guest speaker during our Black History Month celebration on February 25, 2006.

2007

Reverend Derrick Perkins, Sr. celebrated his Eighth Anniversary as Pastor of Shalom Baptist Church on October 10, 2007 to October 14, 2007.

2008

January 2008, Reverend Doctor Derrick Perkins, Sr. presented the church wide theme: “Growing In Faith”, with the emphasis Scripture Mark 4:1-9.

Shalom Baptist Church Radio Ministry “A Moment of Peace” started February 2008 on station WTJZ 1270 AM. God has always used history as a tool for revealing Himself and our church history is the record of God relating to man through Jesus Christ.

In 2008 “A Call To Oneness” was founded by Doctor F. James Clark, local leaders, and ministers to promote oneness within the inner city of St Louis, MO. The march hosted 60,000 people throughout the city streets.

2010

In 2010, Shalom Media USA was established in South Texas.

2012

Benny Punnathara, Chairman of Shalom Media, was awarded the Chevalier title in February 2012 by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, the highest honor conferred by the Church on a layperson for outstanding contributions to the Catholic Church and society.

2014

On Divine Mercy Sunday 2014, with a clear mission in mind, SHALOM WORLD, a 24/7 commercial free, English-language television channel for the whole family was launched.

2016

In November 2016, a new Production House opened in Chicago, Illinois.

2017

Shalom Media Austria began its work in June 2017.

2018

In early 2018, SHALOM WORLD will be launching SHALOM WORLD Australia and SHALOM WORLD Asia featuring specially targeted programs for those regions.
