5. Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as a member of the IEP team when requested.
6. Support the needs of students as determined by the IEP.
7. Remain current in field of educational interpreting through participation in workshops, professional meetings, interaction with professional colleagues, and reading of current literature in the field.
8. Perform ongoing maintenance of current credentials and providing evidence to the Local Education Agency (LEA) as requested. .
9. Clarify the role of interpreter to assist all parties concerned.
10. Maintain an impartial attitude and guard confidentiality in accordance with the Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf (RID) Code of Ethics.
11. Participate in staff duties/responsibilities in accordance with local school policies and practices.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary
The Limited Term SignLanguageInterpreter provides signlanguageinterpreting for students who are deaf, primarily for in-person and online classes, meetings, and in other college-wide activities. Additionally, the this position recruits, screens, and mentors contracted self-employed interpreters to provide services to GGC students. The SignLanguageInterpreter dispenses training and resource information to faculty and students when appropriate and upon request.
This position is designated as Campus Security Authority (CSA) and is responsible for reporting crimes and other incidents to the Clery Act Compliance Officer for inclusion in the Annual Campus Security Report in accordance with the Federal Clery Act and GGC policy.
The continuation of this position is contingent on available funding.
Responsibilities
* Provides 20+ hours of signlanguageinterpreting per week appropriate to students' mode of communication
* Assesses students communication mode and provides signlanguage appropriate for each student for best access
* Provides interpreting to current and potential students as needed for access outside of class; interprets with assigned team member as appropriate; provides interpreting services for college faculty and staff as needed and available once students have been assisted
* Assists the Director of Disability Services with selecting, evaluating and mentoring independent contracted interpreters for skill and other essential factors, including professionalism and ethical practices; maintains awareness of area contract interpreters and their availability for work
* Maintains working knowledge of national credential assessments, skill levels and certifications
* Schedules interpreters for semester assignments, special events and as substitutes
* Provides technical assistance for access needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing; informs the Coordinator of any access issues related to students who are deaf or hard of hearing; assists with coordination of accessible media for college-wide use and for specific instructional purposes
* Collaborates with the Director of Disability Services in preparing and presenting programs for current and prospective students, family members, the community, high school staff, GGC faculty/staff about postsecondary services to students who are deaf and hard of hearing
* May be required to cross-train for another position and/or responsibility within the college in order to provide both back-up for a department as well as to supplement resources needed during certain times of the year. While these duties may differ from those typically assigned to this position, they shall not substantially exceed the level of duties for this position; performs other duties as assigned

* 2 Year / Associate Degree from an accredited interpreter training program or nationally certified with two+ years of experience in a post-secondary arena
