St. John Bosco High School company history timeline
The Salesian Sisters were invited to Adelaide by Archbishop Beovich arriving from the United States in November 1954.
Our school began in 1954 and continues to serve the local and broader Brooklyn Park community as a Reception to Year 6 Catholic parish school.
Drawing on the inspiration from Saint John Bosco and Saint Maria Mazzarello, our school opened in February 1956 the parish school, then known as Mary Help of Christians, was formally blessed and opened by Archbishop Beovich.
In 1956, the school celebrated its first high school graduation.
On September 9, 1957, the new St John Bosco School opened its doors to eager young students in grades kinder, first, second and third.
St John Bosco School received its first full accreditation from TEA in 1969 and continued to maintain this status throughout the years.
St John Bosco began as Summit Academy through the inspiration of a group of women while on retreat in the spring of 1997.
In the beginning of 2000, major renovations established the multi-purpose room and, soon after, the third floor of the administration building, which created additional classrooms, faculty offices and the first elevator.
Generous donors, both in cash and in labor, provided for the building of the current school structure, which opened its doors in the fall of 2002.
On Tuesday, July 5, 2005, St John Bosco opened its doors once again to a brand new Child Development Center serving children from six weeks of age to three years.
Shortly afterwards, a high school was added, and four years later in 2005 the first class of four seniors graduated from Summit Academy.
After much consideration the board announced the new name of St John Bosco Academy, which went into effect July 1, 2019
